The Togglereach Celestial Treatment and Herbal Regimen (ˈTohg-Gl-Reech)

I came to the Runswich Xotaoleian to confirm the reports that a team of Gnomes had finally found a treatment for the extremely rare but debilitating illness know among the common folk as Infernal Blight Word of the breakthrough had been filtering through the healing community, but few had seen the procedure up close.   I found the leader of the team, Professor Zanwor Togglereach busy in the workarea they had been allotted by the healers of the Xotaoleian. He had a young female gnome assisting him as well. I asked about this new treatment that may have found an end to the Blight for those who suffer from it.   "Not so fast, sonny, not so fast! There are steps to be taken, procedures to follow. But the Togglereach Celestial Treatment and Herbal Regimen (be sure to get that all down, and remember it's two 'G's), the treatment will revolutionize healing as we know it!"   I then asked him to walk me through the Treatment and Regimen, and he was happy to oblige.   "We've taken a mageosensitive crystalline orb, the kind the Sher make, not one of those cheap knockoffs, mind! These babies are designed to absorb magical energy and then release it, normally. Well, we take the orb and Almin there, he casts a spell on it - I said 'on,' mind, not 'in'. When he's done, it will channel energy from the celestial plane. We actually change the nature of the orb's absorptive powers! Once that's done, young Kashik, our cleric, he begins channeling planar energy directly from Izith, itself. Pure celestial power captured in the orb, ready to use.   "So the patient comes in, and Spidira takes measurements and such, so we can record our progress with the treatment. She's what we call 'hard' science. Well, once she's done, the patient sits before the orb, and our wizard, Almin, begins to channel the energy into the patient in a controlled manner. Takes a lot of concentration to keep from giving the patient too much energy too fast. Once it's done, Spidira does her thing again, and escorts the patient to our special ward we have set up. Prejudice, you understand."   And the herbal regimen?   "Ah, yes, that's young Vennoa...Vanovna..."
"Vonove, sir."
"Yes, she's our herbalist. Druidy sort, of course. It's a unique mixture of..." And he looks at his assistant.
"Desserrel, Eweonise, Oliamin, Pommosley, and Silk Moss," she offers brightly.
"You see," Prof. Togglereach continued, "We found we would make great progress with the Celestial energy, only to have the illness come back just as strong by the next day. It was Venavo..."
"Vonove, sir."
"...Vonove who worked out the exact formula to be taken nightly in order to halt any relapse of the Blight."   I asked if this truly could cure the Infernal Blight.   "Cure? It's too soon for that, we've only just begun extensive testing. Lack of willing subjects, you know, and Kashik and Almin need time to rest, as well. Takes a lot out of them. But it makes a dramatic improvement, that's something Spidira can show you."   The numbers certainly looked impressive, but numbers were all that I would get. No patient in their ward was willing to allow an observer in to their treatment. Disappointed, I made do with what I had. I still had one question, though. What exactly did Prof. Togglereach do?   "Do?? Why, I'm the money, of course. Those crystalline orbs don't come cheap, you know!"

Infernal Blight
A debilitating and degenerative illness of the skin, eyes, and skeletal structure. It is commonly believed to be the work of fiends. There is much prejudice and fear surrounding the illness. As a result, test subjects are reluctant to come forward to assist.

The Togglereach Celestial Treatment and Herbal Regimen
An innovative combination of herbalism, traditional magic and clerical powers to allow healers to channel Celestial energy safely into the patient, by means of a mageosensitive crystalline sphere, paired with an herbal concoction to prevent relapse.
