Order of the Burning Eye
The Order of the Burning Eye was once a powerful order that were the keepers of the knowledge of the inner workings of the Gateway Portals. They held this secret until the end of the order during the The Great War and the secrets died with the order. Once as powerful and far richer then any nation the order used its knowledge of the Gateway Portals to gain vast riches and political influence.
The order began in the fabled city of Starmantle (now know as theRuins Of Starmantle ) with a small group of wizards in search of knowledge of transport and teleportation magic. Once they had perfected a stable gateway between two points they were able to use this knowledge to create a network of Gateways (Gateway Portal s) that linked to all of the major cities and landmarks on the world of Jord, and controlled the schedule in which they would be linked.. To fund the order its members would charge a stipien to each city for the use of the Gateway Portal and then schedule it. (A better stipien meant a better schedule). They were able to use this system to become rich and powerful, Powerful enough to have its own military order theKnights of the Illuminated Blade . To keep its secrets the order enlisted its own Blacksmiths, bakers, Bankers, all manor of skilled labor. They had Private temples, Its own Navy and the list goes on.
During The Great War The Knights of Illuria hunted down and slaughtered many of the elders of the order and the rest were killed off by the Mana Eater or during the bloodbath of the war thus ending the might of the Burning Eye.
Structure
This is an order of Wizards and Mages with leadership in the form of a group of elders that are refereed to as High members or Elders. The organization was vast and held its own craftsman, bankers, farms, basically an all encompassing group that was a culture onto itself.
Public Agenda
The agenda of the Order was to keep the secrets of the magic behind the inner workings of the Gateway Portals , To keep the Gateway Portals working, and to Schedule the destinations of the Gateway Portal . This all came to an end during the The Great War .

At its peek just before the The Great War the Order had holdings in the form of its own bank, military (Knights of the Illuminated Blade ), Farms, shipping,.... They had hands in just about everything.
History
The beginnings of the Order are unclear but it is beveled to have started with a small group of wizards residing at the ruined city of Starmantle now the Ruins Of Starmantle (before it was ruined). They were in search of knowledge of teleportation.
