Aegirium Material in Johorne | World Anvil

Aegirium

Aegirium is a strange material found within the Suria system. Although much of the material can be mined from the asteroids throughout the system, the planet of New Damascus in particular has a treasure trove of the material, as well.   Aegirium, as it's known to some, is a strange metal which is extremely hard to work with. Psionics, however, do have an effect on it. For such reason, the occupation of Metalworkers have become invaluable to the system. Aegirium, once mined and distilled, has unusual properties and interactions with the physical world. It seems to resist piercing and perforation, as well as other forms of destruction and deterioration once it has been formed. Additionally, other, coalescent properties can be observed where the metal is used in larger quantities.   As it is extremely difficult to work with using normal methods, it falls largely to the Metalworkers to process it. Shaping it with mental images, the Metalworkers will often do the purification and actual construction using it themselves, although a finished product can still take quite awhile to produce.   Aegirium's most infamous usage is in the construction of the Aegis, from which it Aegirium gets its name. The strange properties of the metal make it the preferred material for the Aegis' construction, providing its users with the maximum protection and military capacity that can be offered. It was this that spurred The Order of Mars to take up control of the Suria system, and New Damascus in particular.   Although Aegirium is used for the Aegis, and is the best material for it, it n
