The Expeditionary Command

"The final frontier is the standing army of DECTA, before the peacemakers split off and became the over funded military of the galactic council. It has rebranded into the expeditionary command. The expeditionary command is a large army of professional volunteer fighters who sign up to defend their countries. It is well-equipped, professionally trained, and deployed wherever enemies of DECTA are threatening anyone. They are deployed both domestically and internationally." - Hitch-hiker's guide to Jeslorian militaries.

The Expeditionary Command

The expeditionary command is the standing army of DECTA and something of a sister organization to the peacemakers, relying completely on them for equipment, soldiers, and supplies. This is mostly because in the wake of the new colonization efforts, a number of factories were moved to planetary colonies. Planetary colonies also have larger populations, and peacemaker reserves are often deployed in the expeditionary command. Even though war is almost a constant on Jeslore, the expeditionary command is more or less neglected in favour of the peacemakers and council commando. In fact, most of the soldiers from the peacemakers that pitch in to help the expeditionary command still wear peacemaker uniforms. This is mostly an intimidation tactic/mind game, as the peacemakers are known to be an off world military. The Expeditionary Command is almost never deployed off world unless the peacemakers strain themselves, which is rare but has happened.   The expeditionary command has no special units of its own, instead it just deploys the special units from the peacemakers. This uneven skill/experience landscape makes the expeditionary command hard to deal with when they're attacking, and much harder to deal with when they're defending because going in it's impossible to tell what to expect. They could just be reliant on standard EC soldiers, or they could have an area defended by death angels and members of the Charlot division. Likewise on offence, they could either be deploying freshly trained forward units, or they could be sending trailblazers or DROP troopers. Because of this unpredictability, no one really wants to deal with the expeditionary command, as any action taken against them is either an overwhelming victory or a catastrophic loss. And even in the event of an overwhelming victory, that's because they allocated far too many troops in this one operation that could and should have been used elsewhere.   Compared to militaries such as the peacemakers and council commando, the expeditionary command is rather small and underfunded and generally relies on what its sister organization can spare and its uneven power dynamic to hold off enemies.   The expeditionary command has severe problems with spreading itself too thin with territories outside its immediate borders with its regular troops, with sometimes entire settlements being defended by just a few basic troopers and a vet. They're not the most competent either, as the best generals are either with the peacemakers and the galactic council. In the current situation, EC commanders get help from their colleagues in orbit, but whether they actually use the assistance is entirely up to them. In truth, the EC runs entirely on a hate for the opposition, particularly the empire and also because they know what happens if they win. The effort to resupply the expeditionary command with experienced soldiers and leaders is on going, and DECTA will have to take back OTS teleporters if it wants to win the war, but the generals of EC are overly cautious and hesitant to make any sort of move on the offence.   The EC faces overwhelming odds as the imperial legion is moving on, who they no longer have a technological advantage over, and their allies are not helping them as much as they are simply fighting a mutual enemy. What's worse, following a rebranding and social media campaigns, most people in Jeslore are not sure about what they are up to or that they seek to repeat the atrocities of slavery, rape and murder from the past. They have effectively disconnected themselves and are not yet ready to show their true colours, not until they have a more comfortable upper hand over the other factions as well as DECTA.   Perhaps worst of all, with the galactic council not having direct control over the EC and DECTA, corruption has become a bigger and bigger issue, which makes any sort of effort at repelling the enemy less effective. To compete with the drosden fleet and SEAL for corporate interests, DECTA had to make itself more attractive by allowing billionaires more reign within their territories. This has had a terrible effect on the army itself, who are now torn between fighting a war and defending private interest, further weakening the army and stretching it thin and making it rely more and more on the allies it has in space which are just out of reach.
