Crown Prince or Princess of Crystland

The Crown Prince or Princess of Crystland is a nobility title given to the oldest child of the King and Queen. The Crown Prince or Princess is the designated heir of the kingdom and is tutored until adulthood, after which they become the most powerful person in the kingdom after the King and Queen. They become King or Queen when their parents die.
Hard choices must be made, but I know you'll be the greatest queen, dear. One day you'll see. I believe in you, my ice queen.
— King Mark

Requirements

Originally, the title was only given to the oldest son of the king and queen of Crystland. However, in 1485, King Efrahm the second changed the law to allow his eldest daughter to become queen. The only requirement now is that the holder is the oldest legitimate child of the king and queen.

Responsibilities

Until adulthood, the Crown Prince or Princess is required to attend lessons in statecraft, politics, and other topics. As they get older, they may take on electives and even get personal training from the king or queen. After they turn eighteen, they are no longer forced to attend lessons. However, most holders continue their training in order to become good rulers.

Benefits

Especially as they get older, the Crown Prince or Princess is afforded enormous respect. No one wants to make the future king or queen angry. They are given access to the royal treasury, have servants at their beck and call, and after the age of twelve are allowed to sit in on meetings of state. When they reach eighteen, they are treated as the most important person in the kingdom other than the king and queen.

Notable Holders

Princess Icorlyn: the first girl to be granted the title. King Efrahm's favorite child, she became one of Crystland's greatest rulers.
Prince Jakob the third: Jakob's brother was killed when he was fifteen by his jealous cousin. Desperate to prevent the murderer from taking the throne, his parents had another child, Jakob. Jakob was raised outside of Deznero and was known for his distrust of distant relatives.

The Crown Prince is quite an interesting young man, your majesty. He has several classes for ruling, but he also learns music and dancing. He is studious and quiet, but charming and funny. He would be a good match for your daughter.
