Benara Organization in Ithica | World Anvil

Benara

Benara is the second largest country on Nowch. It is home to Nowch’s foremost religious sites, Ironhead and The Temple of the Six.

Structure

Benara is ruled by lords who manage taxation and take care of designated regions. While lords can be elected there has to be a vote by the people of a lords region to start the election process, otherwise lordship is passed from the current lord to their eldest child at the lords discretion. All lords report to the Council of the Six who can oust a lord from their position at any time with a vote of 3 or more.

Public Agenda

Benara cares little about foreign politics and is focused mostly internally. They do have many paladins that they set out on duties of foreign aid but being so close to the The Guild of Izret most small issues are actually made out as jobs for the guild to deal with.

Assets

Seven armies, six churches/keeps, multiple fortified towns and villages, and Bahmut Palandia Keeps dotting the country side.

Demography and Population

750,000

Military

Benara technically has seven seperate but cooperatives armies. Bahamut Palandia, Ravens Murder, The Seekers, Errathis’s Engine, Morning Sun, Hammers of Peace, and The Peoples’s Army   While the Peoples Army is mostly made up of militia’s, retired soldiers from of other countries, and retired adventurers, the other six are made up of paladins, clerics, and acolytes of The Six. Each have at least a small navy and each very in size greatly. The largest being Bahamut Palandia, which is made up almost entirely of paladins and almost has as large a force as the other five churches armies combined.

Foreign Relations

Benara is a peaceful country. Between its large standing armies of paladins and clerics and its close association with the The Guild of Izret very few other countries are likely to start a conflict with them even if they weren’t peaceful. Benara tries most often to act as a peace keeper not peace breaker.

Agriculture & Industry

Benara has access to most viable industries, fishing, farming, forestry, and mining, all of which contribute to a strong and diverse market of artisans and manufacturers.

Trade & Transport

Benara operates as the major trade hub of the western side of Nowch. With the largest port and maintained highways to every other large population centre on the continent there is little that Benara does not deal with.

Education

Benara has a school system managed by a small council of clerics and acolytes of Ioun with input from members of the other churches. This public schools system teaches children age 4-15 during the non rest weeks.   Each church in Ironhead also acts somewhat like a university, giving its members advanced educations in anything from general study, to farming, to military tactics.   Outside the churches there is only one other location concerned with higher education of note, The Investigationem Bibliotheca an independent research and education group.

Infrastructure

Most large population areas have functioning sewers and those areas that do not, have a healthy understanding of the importance of disposing of refuse and have systems in place to gather and remove such material. The highways of the region are well maintained and are made of either cobblestone, well packed stone/brick, or densly packed wood lined dirt. Sign post are well maintained and the highways are patroled by members of Bahamut Palandia or the Peoples Army who also light lamps along the way and maintain small guard posts and cleared areas intended for caravans or travelers to camp at. The borders along the highway are marked with a lamp post of red iron.

Mythology & Lore

During the Followers’ War, followers of Bahamut, Pelor, the Raven Queen, Iuon, Morradin, and Errathis, came together and collectively prayed for the aid of their gods in ending the conflict. This resulted in the Miracle of The Six and eventually led to the founding of the collective faith now known as The Six.

In the Sixs’ light peace can be found.
