The Gods (post sundering)
After the great sundering, the pantheon of gods that were worshipped shifted slightly. The gods Ciella and Beara died while the gods Uher, Sieras and Cerathor have disappeared, with theories ranging from death to banishment. The divine shield has not yet been rebuilt so although the gods keep to their celestial realms, they do sometimes come down to the material plane, usually staying far away from the action.
The Nature of the Gods:
The gods are incredibly powerful beings that excerpt great influence on the world. They have the ability to grant spells to followers who worship them and have near complete control over their domain. Their powers and domains shift as they do, making it possible for ones domain to completely change over millions of years. The gods' powers change based on worship and devotion, more followers gave a god more power. Gods had large amounts of children, the greater ones that were birthed by Mualdir and Cerathor joined the ranks of the gods while the lesser ones went to reside in the feywild. After the scourge and the sealing of the realms, gods children had remarkably lesser power and joined the ranks of their angels. They are divided up into two factions with multiple gods choosing to remain neutral. The Alliance represents the gods who wish to keep the world as it is despite its problems. The betrayers represent the gods who side with Asmodeus and want the world to be destroyed and reborn in a more perfect state with Asmodeus as god king over it. Gods have two forms, although some can take many more, they have their true form which is an embodiment of their full power. And they also have an avatar form which is a humanoid in order to be able to work in smaller places and blend in amongst mortals. Most gods like to spend a majority of their time in their avatar form.
The Gods of the Alliance:
The gods of the alliance fight to keep the world in its current state and don’t want Asmodeus or any single being as ruler of the entire multiverse. Alliance gods fight to keep the world safe and hope to turn the world into a place where they can leave mortals in peace. They are not necessarily completely good and can be cruel but they generally want to keep the world as it is now.
