07/06/21 Session 23 - "Haphazard Hag Hunting Heroes"

Beginning to assess their situation, Balasar Norixius speaks with the voices beyond to determine that the Hags are indeed stealing away the vitality and health of the party members. Our heroes eventually leave the Burgermasters Mansion in the Village of Barovia and head out toward the windmill in hopes of ambushing the remaining hags and putting an end to their tribulations.   Upon reaching the windmill, the team keeps its distance. Using their Raven familiar Muriel, Fredriech Carlston asks to have the structure scouted for Hags. Muriel returns to the party with an affirmative; the Hags are there. Our adventurers "sneak" up to the windmill, line up at the wall and Adrid readies his skeletal warhorse "Mr. Hands" to run through the front door and attempt to knock one of the remaining hags prone.   Mr. Hands rushes the door and fails to knock it down but does alert the Hags inside. The party rushes in and beings to search but find nothing. Eventually the hags appear and attack the party. The party struggles a bit but does eventually eliminate one of them, the other seems to disappear into the ether.   As soon as she vanishes, another adversary approaches; Strahd von Zarovich swoops in and appears from a cloud of mist. After thanking our heroes for dispatching the hags, Fredriech Carlston begins jousting with him verbally concerning his motivations.   Eventually Strahd von Zarovich reveals to the party that the precession of the dead from the Village of Barovia to Castle Ravenloft is made up of the adventurers to come before them. He insinuates that they may join them at some point.   After Strahd von Zarovich tires of speaking with the adventurers he disappears yet again. Some of the party head back into the windmill to investigate. Grinfiddeus Nobbles helps search and uncovers what appear to be 2 children in crates. This astonishing discovery may be enough to pull the party members back together to investigate the area.
