Count Strahd von Zarovich is a vampire and the dark lord of Barovia. He rules from Castle Ravenloft. Strahd's name seems to invoke strong responses from the people of his land. The VIllage of Barovia feels the pressure more than anywhere else. His presence looms over them. Recently he has become infatuated with Ireena Kolyanovich, all though her brother Ismark Kolyanovich isn't sure why. Later the party discovers through the Tome of Strahd that Strahd's first love was called Tatyana. During their first visit to Castle Ravenloft to have dinner with Strahd they are forced to bring Ireena with them. Strahd seems very happy that his love has returned to him. He does maintain their deal of providing safety to the party while they are in Castle Ravenloft. Known allies
