Ginny Pigs (GHIN-neez pigs)

Ginny Pigs are a species of rodent specially bred and cultivated for their fur and other byproducts. They are found almost exclusively in a large herd in one spot in the Deezundeer Mountains, a gnomish farming community known as Ginnyvale. There, vast herds of Ginny's Pigs roam the lush and fertile valley inside the caldera of an ancient volcanic crater.

While they continue to run free in large herds and forage on their own, their well-being is carefully attended to by gnomes that work for Granny Ginny's Gin Distillery and Ginny Pig Farm. Their fur is periodically harvested to be woven into a number of popular-selling materials. Other parts of the Ginny Pig, such as its guano, are also collected and used in a variety of products.

The Ginny Pig typically weighs between 2-1/2 to 3 kilograms (6.6 lb) when full grown. Most individuals live an average of two to five years, but may live as long as eight years. While their natural habitat offers no real predators, natural selection causes random Ginny Pigs to spontaneously explode at times before their natural life ends, this maintaining the balance of the species and avoiding overpopulation.
