Del Graffen

Del Graffen is a coastal town on the southwest coast of Melas. While being a major seafood producer and exporter, it also directly controls a series of villages and hamlets all across the southwest corner of the island, all the way to the border of Aerost, that produce numerous farm good staples. It is one of the founding members of the Aergrafter Union.

Humans make up the population majority of this town, although the majority of inhabitants of its dependent hamlets are single- or multi-clan hill dwarf communities. These farming communities live on land owned by the ruling family of Del Graffen and pay fealty to their king while being allowed to cultivate the lands.

Life is not too much of a struggle and food and jobs are abundant within the influence of Del Graffen. The king does rule with a strict but very fair hand. From time to time, occasional minor resistances will rise up in within the bauerdoms and cause trouble, but the crown enjoys the protection and security of the Gerecht Keep, the Konstar and its constabulary security force.

Demographics

The population of the town proper is almost entirely human, with a handful of hill dwarf neighborhoods. These mostly support and represent the supporting farming bauerdoms.

Government

Absolute hereditary monarchy (King). The king keeps a council of advisors that update him on the status of the town, its holdings, trade and defense, but his decisions are final. There is a set of town bylaws that have traditionally been adhered to by the royal court, but the king is allowed to bend the bylaws in times of crisis or opportunity.

Industry & Trade

Shipping, fishing and other trade forms the backbone of the Del Graffen economy.

Infrastructure

The business culture of Del Graffen is neatly divided between sea and land agricultural interests. Shipping interests have declined greatly since contact was lost between the town and ports to the north, but demand from settlements and businesses throughout the Wildlands continues to grow.

Assets

Most coastal warehouses sit empty and silent, save those storing seafood preparing to be shipped east. All land-based agricultural resources are stored onsite to reduce shipping costs, and standard ocean trade is all but nonexistent.
