Gold Dragonkin

Descendants of Gold Dragons

During the Eldritch War when the horrors were upon the world, the biggest blessing was seeing shimmering golden scales approaching. Others served as healers, Clerics, Paladins, and the like, but nothing was ever more divine, a godsend, than those golden scales that meant rescue and respite. People who could root out evil, people who used a special gift to save, these people were a safe haven in war, their illustrious scales like a beacon in the night. Even after the war ended, these people served as peacekeepers and leaders, remaining the beacon they had been in the darkest days.   Gold Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and a Gold Dragon. They have the uncanny ability to root out evil and those with nefarious purposes which has led to them often being thought of as divine. People welcome them into their communities and militaries as these people join professions that allow them to utilize their abilities. Often, they learn and use Purple Magic as it is divine in nature.   Above all else, these people believe in service. The Council of Metallic Dragons has proven that they can make a difference, no matter how small, no matter where. Metallic Dragonkin follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, each in different ways. Gold Dragonkin save and serve, becoming people that others look to in dark times. Their scales and magic mean hope to so many, a belief that they wish to continue.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Gold Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Gold Dragons. Their facial features are softer than other Dragonkin, with a jawline that comes to a point, much like a beard. A long, pointed tail, a crown of horns, and large muscular bodies are also common in Gold Dragonkin.   All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Gold Dragonkin often have a resistance to any radiant damage while their breath weapon allows them to create a burst of radiant light that has some divine properties. This light can incapacitate enemies and even blind them.   Common Colorations

Common Colorations

While their coloration is in their name, Gold Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades, matching the shades found in the scales of Gold Dragons. Their scales can range from a lighter gold color to a darker gold, but their range of color is not as large as the Chromatic Dragonkin. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Social Structure

Metallic Dragonkin are considered the more social of the two groups of Dragonkin, although this is greatly influenced by the stigmas that surround certain colors of scales. Gold Dragonkin make their homes in cities and villages throughout the world, choosing places where the ability to root out evil or poor intentions may be helpful. Because of their abilities, they often take up professions that deal with peacekeeping or divine magic, becoming Clerics, Paladins, healers, and fulfilling other necessary roles. These people often join the militaries of the societies in which they live.   Gold Dragonkin, much like their ancestors, are loved by many which allows them to be welcomed into most societies with open arms. Even so, a small number of Gold Dragonkin call the Fearsome Maw home where they have been asked to keep the peace amongst the other colors and sort out any issues that may arise. These people are often on elected councils, especially in the Maw, as they are seen as extremely trustworthy and less likely to have a nefarious purpose.
