A frigate hull that has the majority of it's internal systems removed to make way for a cruiser sized rail gun. It is, however, more useful, as it can be placed multiple light seconds away, and doesn't have humans inside, and so can re target rapidly.

The waste heat converts the projectile into a molten, vaporizing blob, but the kinetic energy is all that is needed for the job. The blob will expand at to around 10 m after 1 light second, but will have already cooled off to it's melting temperature.
