Roy Claydor Character in Irrelion | World Anvil

Roy Claydor

King Roy Curtis Claydor (a.k.a. Bear of the South)

Roy Claydor, the reigning king of the Claydor Kingdom, still new to the position of king, but carrying on the legacies of his forefathers.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Still somewhat young, but not too young, his body shows signs of age, but none of the weaknesses. His hair is gritty and split at the ends, and scars line his body, gone pale from the years. His large build combined with his posture make him often the largest man in the room.

Facial Features

His coarse brown hair give him a unique look, many likening him to a bear, hence his nickname "Bear of the South". Three deep scars run over his eye, a memory of a young encounter with a bear, from which he barely kept both his vision and his life.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born to Jeffery Claydor II, the only son, he has only recently come to take the throne of Claydor, having taken the throne in 938. Unlike most other rulers, he is not Godborn, but is still a rugged and keen man. He fought in many battles in his youth, as raiders were much more prevalent when he was younger. He has a good grasp of everything a King would need to know to rule, but has yet to prove himself in one way or another.

Education

He has received a standard education, not something that other kings would deem as acceptable, but he has much trust in his advisors, delegates, and military officers to use their knowledge where his is lacking.

Morality & Philosophy

Roy has held since his birth a deep and vitriolic hatred for everything relating to the empire, and has made it seemingly his life's goal to find any way to further slight or spite them. His actions, however, show those of a king that desire for the every-day lives of his citizens to continue in peace. He regularly converses with anyone willing to talk to him on his walks through the streets, and helps out in any construction project he catches wind of. Most people believe his true goal is a mix of both what he says, and what he practices, only desiring the destruction of the empire due to it's inherent threat to the lives of him and his people.

Social

Religious Views

He has his own view as an Auror, believing that, as a King, his greatest duty is to always be better to others than he is to himself.
