Diplomatic action

The Chimeran Ascendency presses for a cease fire, and a series of negotiations are undertaken in order to bring the current armed conflict to its close.

Chimeran Ascendency and Iron Stars Federation Peace Accords of January, 2670   Whereas: The undersigned parties seek an immediate and sustainable end to armed hostilities; and   Whereas: The undersigned parties each have vested interest in ongoing and lasting stability in the region; and   Whereas: The parties have reached the following agreement through good faith negotiations;   Therefore, be it Resolved that:   A Ceasefire agreement shall be in effect between the parties immediately for one year from the date of signing. Negotiations to renew the agreement shall commence no later than eight months from the signing of this agreement.   The Iron Stars Federation shall immediately commence a controlled withdrawal of all armed forces from Chimerean controlled territories.   The parties shall immediately release all prisoners of war into the custody of their respective leadership.   The Chimeran Ascendency shall immediately relinquish all claim to any and all areas previously under the jurisdiction of a “client state agreement” that have since declared independence. Chimeran armed forces will immediately withdraw from these areas, and the Ascendency shall recognize the sovereignty of these independent nations. The Chimeran Ascendency agrees and understands that any attack or incursion upon this sovereign soil is a violation of this agreement.   The Iron Stars Federation agrees not to provide or sell arms of any kind to these independent nations within Chimeran space.   All “Client-State” agreements with the Chimeran Ascendency will be amended as follows: Effective immediately, uncompensated labor is hereby abolished. All uncompensated labor arrangements are hereby dissolved, with backpay to be provided at a rate of the median annual salary of that client state for every year in which uncompensated labor was performed; and Henceforth, all persons living in areas governed by a “client state” agreement shall have full freedom of movement, including between “client states” as well as freedom to leave Chimeran controlled space. The parties agree to mutually petition the Exchange of Light to review the validity of all “Client State” agreements.       Upon the conclusion of independent review by the Exchange of Light, it is hereby agreed that, in all areas in which the Exchange of Light determines that a valid “client state agreement” exists, free and fair elections will be conducted to determine whether the area wishes to remain as a “client state” or to declare independence. All sentient beings within the boundaries of the “client state” shall be permitted one vote, and the parties agree that the result will be honored. A joint commission made up in equal parts of appointed Chimerian and ISF representatives will oversee and administer the election. In the event that the Exchange of Light determines that an initial “Client State” agreement was not valid, it shall be considered immediately null and void.   The Parties agree to mutually petition the Exchange of Light to oversee and enforce this Agreement in its entirely
