The Psychic Academy that emerged from The Scream did so to a world filled with mistrust of those psychics unfortunate enough to survive.
Psychic pogroms occurred on many planets, ensuring those who survived the maddening blast of psionic energy often times lived just long enough to be torn to pieces by former friends, family, and community members.
Silvano Mazzio, and later, Regulus Fate are hailed as the first to begin putting the pieces of the old Psychic Authority back together. Actions such as finding the first batch of psychic students emerging since the disaster, caring for those that survived The Scream, recovering lost psionic lore, and securing the public trust in the wake of such a shattering event all kept the founders busy for the first years.
The Academy currently has a headquarters on the planet Galeta, enjoying the thin veil between real and metaspace there.
Re-founded as not just a United Nations of Worlds organization, but a truly galaxy wide one, the academy lives to find more students in need of training, protect those living in dangerous conditions, nurture those they do recover, and finally serving the galaxy in ways only their unique talents can.
All psychics and magic users are welcome at any academy branch no matter what polity they come from.
The academy seeks to remain neutral in all conflicts, though what their students do upon graduation from their instructional programs is up to their own individual wills.
