History
Halflings were a lesser Giant tribe who sought to escape the Curse of Stone the Dwarves had placed upon all Giantkin, and as many other Tribes had attempted to do so, the Halflings similarly turned to Transmutation to alter their forms in an attempt to survive. Using the examples set by those that would become Goliath and Human, the Tribe used similar spells and rituals to alter their own form, though came out significantly smaller and more nimble than their cousins. At first disheartened by this, they soon found their size to be a boon, as they could escape into the Deep Caverns to elude the Giant purists who sought their extinction. centuries later Dwarves stumbled across the Halflings and mistook them for misshapen Gnomes, and brought them into their halls, the Halflings simply accepted the name and it is still a common misconception to this day that Halflings and Gnomes share a common ancestry. Because of the Halflings nature to avoid conflict, and their desire to remain at peace with their old Dwarven enemies, many Halflings are unaware of their own origins as well, and their history has been mostly uneventful since the days of the Giant Wars. On occasion a Halfling will rise to a station of power such as last council of Archmages, Donker and the newly ascended Goddess of Luck Asara.
