The Dark Age
Summary
The Dark Age of Iquria stands as the most tumultuous and devastating chapter in the world's history. It began when Téridax, the God of Death, sought to impose his will upon the world of Pearhsa, craving control over the balance of life and death. Téridax, discontent with the order and peace established by the gods, gathered a faction of like-minded deities to his cause. This coalition of gods, driven by ambition and a thirst for chaos, unleashed their power to sow discord across the mortal realm. They created monstrous creatures of malice and destruction, weaponized the elements, and turned once-harmonious regions into war-torn battlegrounds. As the dark gods wrought havoc, the goddess Solis, radiant beacon of light, stepped forward to oppose Téridax's tyranny. She allied with the mortal races of Pearhsa—elves, dwarves, dragons, and eranorians—sharing with them the secrets of wild magic and, later, arcane magic to help them stand against the divine forces of chaos and death. This alliance between gods and mortals became the cornerstone of resistance against Téridax and his dark armies.
Among Téridax's followers, Luna, the Goddess of Darkness, was pivotal. Manipulated by him, she turned against her sister Solis, fracturing the divine unity and escalating the conflict. The war spread across the heavens and the mortal plane, resulting in untold destruction. Entire civilizations were razed, and the death toll among mortals climbed to unprecedented heights.
The Dark Age culminated in a climactic battle where the forces of light and life triumphed, though at a heavy cost. Téridax lost his physical form, and most of the dark gods were sealed away in the Nether Plane. However, Téridax himself evaded exile, becoming a shadowy force that still lingers in Iquria, a harbinger of dread and despair. The victory left the gods burdened by their failures, leading them to withdraw from Pearhsa entirely, sealing themselves away behind a divine barrier to prevent further harm to the world.
This age reshaped Iquria, leaving scars that never fully healed. It marked the end of Pearhsa as a unified creation and the beginning of The First Age, where mortals took on the responsibility of rebuilding their world, guided by councils and alliances forged in the fires of war. Yet, even in this new age, the shadow of the Dark Age lingers, a chilling reminder of the devastation wrought by unchecked ambition and divine conflict.
