Greene Horne Settlement in Inheritance | World Anvil

Greene Horne

Created by JHH Spears
The settlement was established by the first group of humans that came from Artemis, via a man-made wormhole that dumped them onto the planet, roughly two hundred millenia after the Destroyer of Worlds ripped through the fabric of space and time to lay the Inheritance low. They found the land fruitful and built what would later become the Mayor’s Mansion. The original founders are long forgotten, but their legacy lives on through the town’s name, Greene Horne.

This town is the center of commerce for the planet, providing a place to obtain supplies to process raw materials and a trading post for space faring species that visit the planet. It has a neutrality treaty with the warring factions of Hydro Heads and Hunters, and has open trade routes with the Farmer’s District. Those of the town have little to no contact with their places of origin, though many have no desire to fix that and are content with it.

The legacy and the downside of Greene Horne is that the town introduced slavery to the planet, something the Farmer’s District and the Hydro Heads have an issue with but due to the treaties, there is nothing they can do at the time to stop it without opening themselves to attack from the Hunters and the angry wealthy folk still willing to brawl. While frustrated, those outside the city ultimately put up with it due to Greene Horne's status as a planet-side space port, and the place that would be attacked first if space farers tried to take over the planet. There are a few issues with the Mayor, mostly his ‘fascination’ with keeping young girls around a now nearly deserted mansion, though this is not well known enough for outsiders to comment on it.

Defences

Relies on the Hydro Head Hunters and their prey to dissuade hostile motions from those on the ground.
Unbeknownst to them, the orbiting Dragoona Mute Ayn also defends the planet.

Industry & Trade

They trade processed goods, basic supplies, and slaves with space faring races in exchange for medicines for the people and machine parts for various pieces of equipment, both in Greene Horne and the Farmer's District.

Infrastructure

Barren dirt roads lead to established trade routes.
There is a large well in the center of the town that is kept clear of trash.

Assets

Processed goods are found here and it is the 'space port' for visiting vessels.

Guilds and Factions

The factions are simple. One is either an ally of the Hydro Heads, an aid to the Hydro Head Hunters, or neutral with a desire for the fighting to end.
