Mount Tycho

Mount Tycho, sometimes known as Tycho Moor or Brightmoon Hill, is located in the North York Moors. In Precursor times this place was known as Urra Moor.   Today the Moor lies within the borders of Brightmoon County, the ancestral allodial heritance of the Mayfield family.   Every year during the winter solstice a bright star appears in the sky and seems to float high above the Moor. The star appears as bright and almost as big as the moon, hence the name Brightmoon is derived. Afterwards the star wanes and moves west out of sight.   There are several legends associated with Tycho Moor and the Brightmoon Star and many of them involve the last Duke of Brightmoon, Lord Harold Mayfield. It is said that during one solstice Lord Harold climbed the Moor and captured a piece of shining sky metal from the star. Storytellers say that Harold used the sky metal to forge his fabled blue steel armour.   There are also stories told about mysterious happenings in these hills. Yorkshire locals have seen strange lights in the woods and heard unearthly sounds echoing over the moors for generations. The local Machinist chapterhouse in Rosedale on the river Seven has been known to send clan brothers up to the moors for frequent nocturnal meetings atop Tycho Moor. Whatever they know about the truth of Mount Tycho, however, they keep the secret to themselves.
