Ancient City of Vatabarro

Ancient City of Vatabarro was the capital city of the Innaru people. A center of a once massive empire, the city was the center of magical knowledge throughout the world from what scholars have discovered. However, nothing lasts forever and the city was destroyed a long time ago along with all the knowledge in their libraries. As the years pass the city faded from the world and it's original location has been lost to time. Today people have desired to find this ancient city to discover the secrets left behind.

Demographics

While no official records were ever found among other cities of the Innaru people, but archaeologists have found remains of Innaru, elves, and Aravitourus. Such remains have suggested that Innaru dominated in population size and wealth. Elves, are the second most populated with what is believed to be around 9% and were living mostly in poverty to due the manual labor jobs within a city. The Aravitourus were only slaves reserved for only the the wealthiest Innaru. Vatabarro may have a similar composition, but as their capital city, it could be very different.   Among the Innaru and Elves, the city was said to the wealthiest place this world had ever seen and magic was at the center of it. Most Innaru were scientists, wizards, and philosophers all working in the arts trying to better themselves as the mosaics describe. This is all we really know with how large speculation.

Government

The cities is under direct control of the government at all times. However, to dissuade rebellion, they elected representatives of the city to advise the their leader on matters of the city and state. There are 17 in total for the capital city.

Defences

The city was known to be the most protected city in the world with defenses that could rival the gods themselves. Towers that ignite magic with superior accuracy. Walls that were impenetrable. Magic wards to guard against outside threats. An army of highly trained soldiers and wizards. Automatons that protect the streets. Devices that control the weather itself. It would seem impossible for an outside threat to ever bring the city down, but history told us otherwise.

Industry & Trade

The capital sat on the seat of their grand empire that spanned the globe. Aulus was modeled after this city was a result of it's key role with trade and industry within the empire. The Innaru believed that their capital should house all authority within in the land and thus portals, ports, and roads all lead year, so the riches from all over would be bought here first before traveling around the empire.   It was unknown how they supported their population who most didn't participate in any primary and secondary activities with only a small percentage of tertiary activities. Many workers as government officials, scientists, artists, deep thinkers, and much more. Their art today is highly sought after as much of it was lost when the city varnished from existence.

Magic Industry

All accounts say that this city was the pinnacle of magical knowledge the world had ever seen. The understand the aspects of creation and the theory behind spell construction. Their magicians were able to creates spells with unheard of power with a flick of their wrist. Even their enchantment tables were so intricate and power that they were able to make magic devices with ease. Their society sat at the center of magic study and they proved it to the world. The air itself even sparkled with magic, so the stories go.

Infrastructure

Legends tell of portals and devices that link to each other around the city. Transportation was built all around magic and was a feat to behold. Most of the districts were only accessible by magical transportation and required only a weak source to actually maintain a constant connection. Unlike today where any sort of portal or teleportation rune would require a powerful magical source to maintain, they were able to conduct ones that fed off ambient magic. These devices were essential in moving around the city. This is one of the key reasons we believe we are unable to locate the remains of the city itself.   Magic was also used to build magical rivers to move large quantity of resources. these were said to fly high above the city as they floated on transports at an incredible rate. We have recovered one of these transports a while ago and created the Magno Train, a variation of their design to transport people instead. Such a device would be essential in the movement of things across their city and now ours.   The city was also equipped with a system of networks to provide utilities of sorts. While we are unsure what it handled, every residence had to access to these comforts without payment. Such a service would require and huge amount resources to maintain. We don't know how how they were able to do, but archaeologists hope to someday uncover this secret from other ruins. While a fleeting hope, since it was only implemented in this city as we know.   There was one source of magic that supported the entire city. Everything was powerful by a crystalized source of raw magic. It's said that wizards for hours would poar magic into the rock in order to keep it strong and prevent shattering. Without this centerpiece, everything would crumble around them.

Guilds and Factions

From one lost journal, we were able to piece together this citizen's interpretation of the local powers within the city and whoere the ones to avoid or work with. Whole this may be inaccurate, it's the only reference we have about them. We also provided estimates of representation within the government found our findings as well.

Political Factions

There are four major political factions within the city and the empire itself. They all reside within the city to conduct their business. Of the four, we believe 9 of the cities representatives are associated with the political factions.

Stars Aligned

Representatives: 1   This political faction was based solely on unity and liberty for the Innaru. They sought to ensure that their people had the right to perform whatever they wished whether or not these rights infringed on the rights of other races. In the political sphere they wanted to bring the other factions into their fold to only have one group to dictate the empire instead of the four.

Purple Talons

Representatives: 1   This political faction were expansionists and militarists. While the Innaru were the opposite of violent, they sent others to kill, raid, pillage, and conquer for them in the empire's name. Subjugation of the world was on their list along with constant war. The empire must continue to grow in fear of stagnation.

Dark Wings

Representatives: 3   A pure religious faction that sought to bring the most prominent religion to politics. Their autocratic mindset believes that the government and their religion should be be one entity. With such a mindset, they care only for the condition of the empire and care not for expansion or foreign threats.

The Councilors of Vatabarro

Representatives: 4   Considered the most prominent faction of the three, The Councilors of Vatabarro are pure philosophers and idealists. They seek to bring peace to the empire and seek advancement through secular activities. As a result, that their members are in positions of power within their fields to create an organization of superior minds to lead the ignorant.

Economic Factions

There are several guilds within the city to control the business dealings within the empire, but only six have actual power. Of the six, we believe 6 of the cities representatives are associated with the economic factions.

Elven Guild Authority

Representatives: 1   An elf only guild built to ensure fair pay and working conditions by any means necessary. It's believed that most elves were apart of this guid in some capacity. They look out for only elven interests.

Crimson Chains

Representatives: 0   They represent the slaver clans and work with the Golden Crown to provide servants and slaves of the highest caliber (Whatever that means). It's said that this guild used to hold way more power then it's does when the journal was recorded, but a certain event in their history greatly weaken the use of slaves within urban society.

Sailor's Guild

Representatives: 0   The most up incoming guild that protects the interests of sailors and navel trade. Due to some practices instituted by the Golden Crown, this guild quickly came to power to set things right. They are known to be quite honorable compare to the other guilds.

Science Assembly

Representatives: 1   The scientific community was built around this group. While they don't get involved in politics of the city often, they do try to have some influence within the political circles when the occasion arises. They mostly are built to get government funding for projects.

Arcane Practitioners

Representatives: 3   The magic community has always been a centerpiece in the cities politics due to their need of magical expertise. While no true agenda of their own within the city itself, it's believed they are looking only to better themselves by any means necessary. they have been caught many times, assassinating, embezzling, and extorting the other factions to ensure magic stays in power.

Golden Crown

Representatives: 2   The richest individuals of the city came together to form a group to combat worker unions and trade disputes. With nearly bottomless amount of money at their disposal, they are a faction to be feared. As the saying goes, "money is power."

Other Factions

These fractions are not either purely economic or political with a sphere of influence that could span both or other areas. They hold two of the representatives.

New Dawn

Representatives: 1   These radical philosophers believe the end it coming through the teaching of a prominent Innaru. The other factions constantly fight to tear them down.

Nightworks

Representatives: 0   While references only briefly, we believe this group was their criminal underworld. Why it had known political clout is unknown.

Flame's Command

Representatives: 1   The military built this group to support veterans and nationalists, to ensure that wars continue and resources are diverted to their group. They are constantly in search of funding and resources to support their campaigns.

Geography

Accounts vary about its location other than one detail, the temperature was typically warm. This would narrow down the variety of areas, but their skill with magic manipulation could have altered the environment to their will, if we believe ever tale we come across. It was likely on a coast, but also near a mountain range due to it access to metals such as copper and iron. They also had access to a large quantity of locally grown crops. This would suggest that the surrounding area have a large section dedicated to farmland. It's difficult to pinpoint an exact location with those pieces of information and due to their portal technology, they could have been in any part of their empire.
Sadly while we have gathered so much information about the city, we still have no idea where the city could be. Everything we found was from other parts of their empire. While we have a good idea about the extent of their empire, the capital is still hidden away from our sight. Once we find one of the original portals we can stand a chance at finding it.
