Castle Rivergate
Rivergate is known for its strategic location at the convergence of two rivers that form a natural barrier against invaders and as a guardian of the southern road to Kynem, the capital of Stormhaven. It's a symbol of Silvervale's strong defenses and its role in protecting vital trade routes. The town of Rivercross, which the castle overlooks, is growing quickly due to the recent success of the trade route.
Purpose / Function
Rivergate Keep was originally constructed to serve as a defensive fortification to protect the border of Silvervale from potential threats coming from the south, particularly from the unclaimed wilds and wilderness areas that stretch beyond StormHaven's soutern border. Over time, it evolved into a symbol of Silvervale's strength and resolve. Additionally, the town of Rivergate that grew around the keep played a crucial role in controlling and safeguarding the road to the mining town of Glimmerstone, ensuring the steady flow of valuable resources into the duchy.
History
Built to protect Silvervale from the wilds to the south before Glenobar was truly controlled.
