The world is so dark year around, we want to show that even in a world where there is no sunlight, we can have bright days once more.— Wizard to a little kid
Why we do it
Ignotas is a world without sunlight. The most natural light we get gives us about the same brightness as a winters late dusk. Most of our lights inside the city comes from orange street lamps or the occasional business sign, spelling out its name. Once every new year, from the day we created the
Warding Lights fourth, we come together as a community and illuminate the skies.
How we do it
We have created glowing floating lamps which are sent into the skies in the hundreds, children are often seen running around with sticks that cast a bright light spell at the tip of them, and wizards are sent to cast their most impressive light-related spells into the skies. Fireballs, Faerie Fires, Daylight, ... . We want to give our citizens a spectacle of colors, showing that even in the darkest times, there is light.
Industry
As dumb to outsiders as it may sound, we have dedicated teams that put time and effort into creating spells and trinkets that enhance this firework-esque feeling. We have people solely dedicated to cast and create light at the festivals.
All around the Lights
If it only were a few lumen that are thrown around, it wouldn't be much of a festival. On new years eve, we run a huge festival, where people can enjoy delicious food, play games and just let loose and have fun. We have music playing, light artists performing, theater shows and so much more for the people to enjoy.
Grand Finale
Once 0 o'clock hits, the
Rox Guild Headquarters celebrate this new year officially, shooting a spell in the air that turns the sky bright blue, projecting clouds and a sun above the citizens. At this time,
Elijah Artemus Rox, the head of the Rox Guild, will give a speech at the main stage infront of the Guild House. Once his speech is finished, the spell fades and the festivities continue until deep into the morning.
I imagine it would be very sad to have to live in a world without natural light, and it is not surprising that the inhabitants experience something like this at least once a year. I just wonder how they know what the sky and daylight look like if they are not supposed to know it?
Igntoas doesn't grow via reproduction only, in fact most of the influx comes through a portal called the "Passage To The New World", which is a one way ticket from another world where there was normal daylight. You might have read about the "Old World" in some other articles, which refers to exactly that. And as a bonus, the old world is my other Worldanvil world, Cathrea :D
Passage to the New World
Ahh this makes more sense and thanks for the link.
Gotchu, maybe I'lll update the article to make it more clear though. I see now that the wording os sort of vague!
