The Delve

The delve is a holy site in the eyes of the Goldenkeepers. A great ravine created by the carving out of the mountainhome and extraction of the precious metals within.

Religious Significance

The Delve is a major holy site and path of reflection for faithful dwarves. It is a difficult path to take and many denizens of the underdark will creep thier way into the Delve. Shrines and honorific landmarks dot the more worn paths into the Delve, whilst those that wish to trully reflect on the cosmic mysteries will take the darker paths and untouched caverns and crevices.

History

The Great King Girbrin Gold-Fist went through a pilgrimage to the Delve in 1157 CE. His journey took him into adulthood with the discovery and exploitation of a new and unprecedented (at least since before the carving of the Delve) gold vein that stretched deep into the deep. This was the final action deemed to finish his rite of adulthood.
