Ever since his mother disappeared ten years ago, on his 18th birthday, Joel never ceased in the request of finding her. That is one major reason Joel chose to become a journalist.
Joel loves his job, but his boss never give him any important case to follow. Plus, the long search of his mother consumed the majority of his time as well as money, which displeases his girlfriend Sarah. Sarah wanted a Gucci bag for her birthday, but Joel couldn't afford it. The next morning, Sarah was carrying that bag and showed suspicious intimacy to their boss, the chief editor. Joel was of course distracted, which led to him making a mistake, then to a 'conversation' with the chief editor, then to the chief editor humiliatingly telling Joel that he slept with his girlfriend. And Sarah did not deny that.
Joel was furious, he quit his job, broke up, get drank and found a mysterious hand-written letter in his mailbox the following morning. The letter had no sender address, nor signature and it contented only one line, an address and a name, Belladonna. Joel googled the address, finding it to an air bnb, in Venice. Having nothing better to do, Joel booked a room and a flight. And he was pretty disappointed with his findings. Sure his hostess was nice and the building is historical, other than that, nothing special. Nothing special until he get trapped in the building's basement, which who knows, is an ancient maze. Predictably, Joel panicked and started to run and slipped into an underground pool. Luckily Joel knew how to swim, but when he emerged out of water, he was at a different place...
