Gerudo

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Gerudo women are known for their bright red, long hair, golden jewelry, tanned skin, and strong, muscular bodies. They also tend to have an affinity for precious jewels, and will collect all sorts of jewelry to wear, such as rings, necklaces, earrings, and arm cuffs.   Gerudo men tend to keep their red hair cut short, and either present extremely masculinely or extremely femininely. The more masculine Gerudo wear dark clothing (sometimes even sturdy, leather armor), and while they still wear some jewelry, they keep it to a minimum. Feminine Gerudo often dress with the intention of actually looking like Gerudo women, wearing lots of jewelry, keeping their hair long, and dressing in feminine clothes.

Gender Ideals

Within Gerudo society, female Gerudos are still generally the majority of the population, and therefore the ones "on top." They keep matriarchal lineages and generally take the lead in the household, acting as warriors, jewelry crafters, and shopkeepers. If they so choose, they can take classes on how to cook, clean, and take care of the house, as well as how to raise a family, but once they finish their education in that area, they generally leave the desert to go look for a partner elsewhere.   Gerudo men seem to still be trying to find their place in society, taking odd jobs here and there, acting as servants, doing manual labor, or other simple tasks. Most leave the desert as soon as they're grown in an attempt to find a society that treats them equally.   It's not uncommon to find Gerudo men living as women in the desert, though there are dire consequences if they are ever found out by Gerudo authorities.

Courtship Ideals

Many Gerudo women will leave the desert if they can't find a suitable partner for themselves there, and it isn't hard for them to find many suitors in Hyrule proper. Besides that, their courtship rituals are generally the same as Hylians.   Gerudo men will usually try and compete for Gerudo women's attention, showering them with gifts and attempting to impress them with their strength or stories of adventures.

Relationship Ideals

Despite the societal gender inequality, Gerudo households tend to be fairly equal and understanding. Same-sex and interracial partnerships are not uncommon for them, and they value love, trust, and a strong bond between partners. It's usually agreed upon within the partnership who will be the head of the household and who will take on the care and keeping of the house.

Race Stats and Abilities

Classes. Gerudo are drawn to the Sorcerer and Warlock classes, as far as spellcasting is concerned. Many Gerudo with a more martial bent opt to be Barbarians, Rangers or Rogues, while Fighters aren't unheard of. Most Gerudo don't have much truck with divine magic, feeling that the gods have abandoned them.
