The Hidden History of Hypnosium

WHAT IS HYPNOSIUM?
4,600,000,000 BC
There once existed a great nebulous cloud of Aion, or Eternity. Within this cloud swarmed a vast array of consciousnesses, beings who contemplated creation. These beings took in power from the cloud until there was no cloud left. FIlled with all that there was, they began to create. First, they formed into groups to create in complicated weaves of power and ideals. The weaving was fast and furious as great powers were unleashed, but these settled down as slower more intricate weaving was required.

Eventually the beings settled down after weaving themselves into a Sun orbited by eleven worlds. One such world, called Earth, was woven by beings wanting to explore the concept of family. This began with Gaia, Mother Earth, who shaped herself into a world. Then came Ouranos, Father Sky, who wrapped all of Gaia in an airy embrace. Next came Erebos, Uncle Darkness, who blocked the warmth and brilliance of the Sun upon half of Ouranos, making him rain upon Gaia. Aether, Aunt Light, covered the other half of Ouranos and gentled the radiance of the Sun so it passed through Ouranos without harm.

This warmed Gaia and the fallen rain would rise as mist back to Ouranos, replenishing Father Sky. Chronos, Brother Time, set the world spinning forward in time. Not all the rain was returned to Ouranos. Thalassa, Sister Deep Sea, took the salts of Gaia and mixed it with the rain. Joining her was Pontus, Brother Shallow Sea, who spread Thalassa's deep work. Together, they divided the lands of Gaia. Stitching these weaves together with great strength was Ourea, Sister Mountain, her ranges serving as might seams. Finally, there was Nesoi, Cousin Island, who scattered little lands all about the world. With a variety of environs crafted, it was time for the most delicate of weaves, the creating of life. Much power had been expended. It for this most delicate weaving, that Thoth, Sister Magic, finally began to carefully add her power to the weave.

Not all the beings of Aion were content to create.
One still craved to feed on power.
But, it was only one and every weave was many, so it waited, and contemplated.
As the weaving settled down to the finest and most intricate weaves, It Brings Doom began to feed until there were only nine worlds orbiting the Sun.
It hurled itself to crash upon the world called Earth, the sheer force of its attack sundering bits out beyond the embrace of Ouranos.

But, this woven world did not stay shattered. The full might of Thoth, barely used thus far, was very strong and she poured it into the weaves of Earth.
Working together, they fought It Brings Doom, tearing it apart, piece by piece and adding it to the weave until all that remained were the spines of a tail kept as a trophy. These spines have since been named The Dolomites.

In the weaving of It Brings Doom, Selene the Moon was made to shield Earth. A place hidden beyond reality was forged from the heart of It Brings Doom, springing forth Hypnosium.
This place was named Chthon. Ourea built a mountain range, that has since been named after her, about Chthon and crowned it with a great peak called Olympus.

When Rome defeated the Greeks for the last time, the dominance of faith went to the Roman gods, giving them the strength to dismantle the Olympian gods. Some Olympians assimilated into the Roman pantheon while those defeated were stripped of their mantles and imprisoned inside the great volcano, Krakatoa. One god, Hypnos, was also splt into two lesser gods: Morpheus, god of dreams, and Epiales, god of Nightmares. These lesser gods, reduced to mantles of power, were then confined in a mysterious cave in Cambodia, leaving Somnus the sole reigning god of slumbers.416

This article is a vast time-consming project that will grow with more and more stories after WE. Each entry will eventually have its own little story as well as placement within a timeline. But, for WE purposes, this is as far as it will reveal.
