The BFA - Business First Authority
The BFA - Business First Authority is a guild of the most powerful corporation leaders who essentially act as the governing body of the continent. Their main concerns are the almighty profit and all of their decisions revolve around what will make them the most money and keep them in power, whether or not that is actually good for the people (and spoilers, all of the world's resources in the hands of a few people is not good for the rest of the continent).
Structure
At their founding, the The BFA - Business First Authority included 6 members:
- Jean-Luc Harrison, a telecommunications billionaire who was upset that the war had completely destroyed his communication network, and needed the war ended so that he could rebuild
- Alpin Garfield, the head of the largest vehicle/war machine manufacturer, whose factories keep getting bombed and whose workforce is dwindling down to nothing with most of those being needed for the war effort.
- Myra Pedro Knox, a retail billionaire who's business will be doing much better if people stopped fearing for their lives and instead started buying their luxury goods again.
- Eleanora Earle, the richest original member who made their money in insurance and healthcare, who proposed taking over as the governing body as a way to sell her products to the rest of the continent, instead of just within the borders of her country.
- Andrei Bogdakozlov the biggest player in the real estate game, who saw taking control of the continent and ending the war as a necessary risk to take in order to drive his business to the next level.
- Marlow Saxe a media magnet, who was smart enough to put their money on the side of the other powerful figures
History
The The BFA - Business First Authority was created by an alliance of the continent's richest businessmen to end The Third World War after the tide had tipped from them profiting from the war (there is evidence that some of these businessmen had a hand in tipping the world towards war, although this is seen as a conspiracy theory only really taken seriously among the HSA - Homeland State Authority ) to actively losing money to it. Seeing that the governments were in shambles, they purchased their armies out from underneath them and signed a peace treaty which would end the war and set the The BFA - Business First Authority as the controlling and governing body of the continent. As the group with all the wealth and resources, they have had a stranglehold on the continent ever since. At first they set up an organization to work through (that would deal with the day to day operations of rebuilding the continent so they wouldn't have to get their hands dirty with actual work), but after that organization became too big and too corrupt, changeling them for authority, and thinking that they were not in fact puppets of the BFA, the HIPA - Homeland Inclusive People Authority was shut down forever.
