New East Port Town
Demographics
The people of New East Port Town are mostly working-class, hard laborers, and almost all refugees from the remains of the Ardenh Forest (the place that used to be No-Man's Land and people from along the ruined coast of Anderstern. The are some of the merchant, banker, and supervisor class that can claim more of a middle class status, but The BFA - Business First Authority is quick to cycle these people in and out of cities and townships, thinking that keeping the higher classes in one place for too long will only lead to unrest (and possibly give them leave to topple them from the top of their pyramid).
Government
The government style is an elected senate-type democracy, with most decisions made in smaller neighborhood council forums, which then bring their decisions to collective town council forums. No one is given too much power to effect change (power in the hands of many small players instead of one big player is seen as not more efficient, but less likely to cause any more major wars).
Industry & Trade
The whole reason the township was rebuilt was around the Post-Oil Fuel boom of the post-war period. This was the place the resource was first discovered and is still the largest manufacturing center of mining the fuel and packaging it out to the rest of the continent. There is a new booming business of air recycling as there is a growing concern over what The Third World War did to the enviroment and the need to reverse the damage done. There is also a booming shipping industry because most of the other goods that need to be grown (foodstuffs and organic materials, like cotton for clothing) need to be shipped into the city.
Infrastructure
The town has been completely rebuilt from the ruins, and one of the things that the city is most proud of is its public transportation infrastructure. Skytrains, subways, canal boat systems, moving sidewalks, and tramways are all set up to move people around the city as efficiently as possible, making the need for private transportation (which is seen as both inefficient and bad for the environment) totally unnecessary.
History
New East Port Town is a township build on top of the ruins of the Anderstern capitol of Mondpi. The former city had been left abandoned in the wake of The Third World War
