Gift Day Tradition / Ritual in Hoomanland | World Anvil

Gift Day

Gift day is a special occasion where Hoomans give each other gifts to show that they care about each other. The origin of the occasion came from the Homeworld Care Packages given to the Reminian Hoomans though the knowledge of that had mostly been lost.

Giving

Hoomans who want to follow the tradition are expected to give small gifts to whoever they care about. Most will give gifts out to family and friends.

Types of Gifts

While some hoomans will go all out with giving out presents, the gifts themselves aren’t meant to be expensive. They are expected to have at least some thought put into them.   The most common gifts that hoomans will give each other are the recipient’s favourite food or drink.

Younglins

Younglins that are around 4-5 are introduced to the tradition in the Childcare Facilities as the Facility Carer will make a day out of it. The younglins are given small gifts, which they will sometimes swap with each other.   Parents can come to the facility to give gifts to their children, though are discouraged from giving anything that is too large or expensive as it would be difficult to store. A popular gift to give the younglins are Chibblers.
