Kingdom of Tamory

Behold the realm of King Longseax, long may they reign!

History

Before the Palladians arrived, the isle was mostly inhabited by halflings and dwarves living in small, loosely associated tribes. The Palladians quickly took advantage of the situation, siding with the agrarian halflings over the industrious dwarves and driving the dwarves south into Maddrell. These halflings were later pushed to the northeast of the country in a hilly, rock strewn country called Devonia. Following the Sundering, humans migrated from across the Varangian Sea, plundering the Palladian infrastructure and setting themselves up as petty kings of the country. The province remained fractured and dysfunctional until recently, when Varskogans from the southwest arrived and began to raid the coasts of Tamory just as the original migrants had. This time, an exiled human prince from the northeast of Faleret named Redaric united the Tamorese against Varskoga and forging a unique and potent political entity.

Demography and Population

  • Human: ~39%
  • Stout halfling: 20%
  • Lightfoot halfling: 14%
  • Rock gnome 10%
  • Hill dwarf: 9%
  • Half elf: ~2%
  • Mountain dwarf: ~2%

Territories

The island is dominated by a maritime climate with narrow temperature differences between seasons, making it ideal for agriculture and animal husbandry.

Foreign Relations

Tamory has been the subject of several invasions from Faleret and Varskoga and thus is hesitant to deal with them. There is tension between Tamorese and Maddrellans on the border of their two territories but neither is too eager for war. Tamory, particularly its Devonian dependency, is quite friendly with Érulad and trades frequently with them.
