The Western Wilds

Towering Evergreens cling to the slopes of dizzying mountains. Pure, glacial fed rivers wind through valleys and dales like the veins of this vibrant and lush ecosystem while a myriad of animals, insects, and people live comfortably under the shaded canopy of this old growth forest.

Geography

The Western Wilds are situated on the western side of the Wyrmwall Mountains and consists of several forest biomes. Many streams flow out of the Wyrmwall Mountains eventually collecting in the river Ild and flowing out to the Cerulean Spear. The Western Wilds are characterized by the enormous old growth forests that cover it. Some sections of these forests are made up of groves gigantic trees that tower above the already high forest canopy. Further to the west, the forests thin out as they border the vast grasslands of the Celedon Sea.

Fauna & Flora

The forests that hug the slopes of the Wyrmwall Mountains are mostly coniferous with Cedar, Fir, and Pine trees commingled with shade tolerant ground cover and shrubs. Further west from the mountains, the forests turn more deciduous with Oak and Maple dominating the forests with occasional nut trees of various varieties. Along the southern shores of the Western Wilds, fruit trees begin to take over the tree cover while Cyprus swamps fill the estuaries as the many rivers flow into the ocean.
Typical forest Fauna live all over the western wilds with a great diversity of avian species.

Natural Resources

Timber is the focus of the Negresti expansion into the Western Wilds. However, several rich veins of metals have been recently found and mining operations are accelerating.
