Iolivus

The Negresti Empire controls a large area of Korris's northern continent; that they call Iolivus. Hemmed in by the Wyrmwall Mountains in the west and The Great Desol in the east, The Negresti hold their seat of power in a city called Collibria that they built where the Kell river delta empties into the Bay of Scales. The Kell sits in between two other great rivers, the Yun in the west and Tor is the east; collectively referred to as The Sisters, that allow easy transport of goods and troops all over the Empire. Highways spread out from prominent trading towns along the Sisters and give the Negresti dominion over the vast plains of central Iolivus and connect the resources of the Empire to Collibria. Beyond the reach of these rivers, however, Negresti influence quickly wains as they rely heavily on the waterways to project their influence.   To the north, the Negresti Empire is bordered by a collection of small city states that retain their independence by virtue of their distance from the Kell but rely on the vast agriculture the Negresti have developed in the central plains of Iolivus. While trade between the Negresti and these smaller nations is common place, each of them fears drawing the attention of the Empire too much, lets they become the target of their next expansion. These city states also form a buffer for the Negresti against the danger of attacks from northern marauders. The Negresti occasionally lend military support when a particularly dangerous incursion threatens their buffer but for the most part, the Negresti are content to not keep a large standing military force on their norther border as no individual buffer state would ever seriously consider aggression against their southern neighbor. Further north the rugged terrain and nomadic marauders make establishing any civilized presence near impossible. But a few particularly intrepid explorers have made reports of rugged, fantastical peoples eking out a living in the wildernesses beyond Negresti influence.   East of the Great Desol, lies the Prismatic Sea and the Curran Republics that ring it. The Curran Republics all coexist under the Vidan Accords which regulates trade between the republics, guarantees certain rights for their people and provides for their mutual defense without infringing much on the sovereignty of each individual member republic. The accords mandate that each member state must submit to the Curran Council's oversight and regulation for all trade outside of the Republics but each member state provides a representative to sit on the council and advocate for their citizens' interests. The Curran Council sits in the city of Vidos where the Vidan accords were negotiated and signed. The primary basis of the Curran Republic's wealth comes from the lush silks and vibrant dyes that are derived from the tropical environment around the Prismatic Sea. In fact, the sea gets its name from the riot of colors both from the plants that grow around the sea as well as the vibrant kelps, corals and fish that live under the waves.   West of the Wyrmwall mountains lies The Western Wilds . Only recently discovered by the Negresti, the Wilds have been largely cut off from the rest of Iolivus for as long as anyone can remember. What parts of the Wilds that have been explored by the Negresti seem to be mostly covered in deep, old growth forests with colossal evergreen trees that seem to scrape the sky. The Negresti are currently attempting to expand into the Wilds and take advantage of the bounty of new resources they have discovered. Until recently, the Negresti have not possessed an ocean going navy and have largely been concerned with expansion up through the lands between the Wyrmwall and the Great Desol.
