Head Director Shankar Kuru (a.k.a. The Hope of the Kuru (by his family))

Current Director of Vigilant's Asian branch, The Blade is human man with inhuman level of strength and access to an assortment of divine relics with the sole purpose of battling massive monsters. He uses this armory and strategic mind to lead his branch in battling the many criminal networks residing across the continent. He is quite renowned among the other branches for reaching the Director position rather quickly and his various early successful missions. However, in recent years he's recently met with many failed operations within his branch that has resulted in discussions over whether or not he should be stripped of his position.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Currently in peak human condition despite his age, with no sign of wrinkle, grey hair, and sag visible on his body. His tall build align with an atheletic build and msucles that would put a greek god to shame, with the only thing obstructing his near flawless tan skin is the skars that riddle his body.

Special abilities

• Divine Blood: Due to being a descendant of the hero Arjunna he does have a connection to the god Indra. Though the genes that pretain to the aether of the gods has long since dried out over the thousand's of years of progeny, however the blood is still there and out all of his relatives won the gene pool jackpot and was able to acquire his status as an avatar or demigod as some may say. As a result he posseses above average strength, agility, durability, aether compatibility, and instincts.

Specialized Equipment

• Aindrastra: An Astra or supernatural weapon meant to envoke the power of a god from the Hindu pantheon. This one with the power or influence of Indra, is a bow and arrow that when shot into to air produces a rain of arrows to fire down upon the enemy. Best useful against armies or swarms of enemies when you don't have to worry about friendly fire. Due to this it's rarely used by the Director.
• Agneyastra: An arrow bestowed by Agni, design to burn its targets with divine flames. A type of fire produced through aether that allows it burn hotter and longer than normal flames. Best used against individuals with powerful healing factors.
• Varunastra: A scabbard and sheath filled with chaotic aether induced water that when drawn can retain the shape of a sword or shoot out waves of water that can push back attacks or waves of enemies. However, requires a lot of aether to control and can risk friendly fire.
• Vajra: A small weapon created by Indra that cumulates wild aether and release it as a blast of electricity. Side effects being that the user could potentially blast themselves with lightning and shock their nerves.

Personal history

Shankar Kuru was the prize child of the Kuru family, an old family that named themselves after the ancient Kuru empire as it was believed that they were the descendants of the Pandava brothers, more specifically Arjuna of Hindu legend. The family once prided itself as a great family due to their close relationship with the Hindu pantheon and being descendants of their ancient heroes, resulting in them developing a rather bloated ego despite not really having any real influence in anything. However, once the gods began distancing themselves from the earth (largely due to the Celestials) much of their good fortune over the centuries along with their families ability to wield their divine treasures began to diminish greatly resulting in the family falling deeper into obscurity. Many believe that maybe this could have been caused by the families rather 'negative behavior' accumulating bad karma, ultimately being the main reason as for why they lost favor with the gods and why their family began to suffer. Not knowing that the gods simply couldn't interact with earth as often anymore and the descendants loosing their strength and power being the result of the generations of reproduction thinning out their 'divine' blood.
Regardless, the family began to act as a philanthropist group meant to provide aid to their 'fellow man' and began raising their descendants to uphold extreme standards in vain attempt to reacquire their lost power and rectify their families misdeeds. This almost seem to be all for not for generations until the birth of their ideal child Shankar. The moment he was born it was clear to his father that he was destined for greatness, this was further instilled in him as he grew older as he had natural charitable personality and was capable of wielding the families most prized possessions the astras. A feat no one in the Kuru family was able to do in the last 500 years. This was viewed by many of the elders to be a sign that the family was finally getting redeemed and Shankar was now made into the families golden boy. Expecting him to continue carrying on the families beliefs and traditions in order to ensure their future, even if he himself didn't share them or wanted something else in life. He found himself just going through the motions as his family practically made his decisions for him under the guise that this is what was best for the family, so he felt like he could never go against them feeling that doing so would harm them. When he turned 15 though, is when things for him began to change. One day while on his way home he was attacked by a naga that was recently released from an ancient shrine disturbed by nearby construction. His life would have perished had it not been for the last minute save by a mysterious young man who was only looked to be year older then him. This woman was Argo, a member of the organization Vigilant who began to talk with the young man and reveals to him the world that's hidden under the veil normalcy. This revelation shook him as some of what Argo explains to the young man doesn't entirely align with what his family taught him. Despite this he couldn't help but take him at his word given that he was the only other person that he has ever met that was capable of using aether like him. Afterwards he returned to his family home where they explained how he will be a part of an arrange marriage to wonderful family that they believe will ensure that his bloodline will maintain the family's winning streak. He however, wasn't happy with this especially after finding out that him being able to use the astras came down to him inheriting a body and strong soul required to support them, meaning it didn't come down to his family's karma but rather shear luck of the draw. This made him realize how much of his life and to an extent his families amounted to nothing, and even if it did their lack of freedom for the idea of looking good was it really worth it? Later that night another naga arrived in his very home and began wreaking havoc among Kuru family home, only being slowed down by Argo who followed it down once he detected its pressence. This naga though, was much larger then the other one and thus gave him more of a challenge. Before it could deliver a fatal blow though it was shot in the throat by Shankar who brought along the families treasury of weapons. After what felt like hours and constant switching of weapons, Shankar fought the beast to a standstill till Argo could finally deliver the killing blow ending the beast. While his family cheered him on for his heroic feats, he himself couldn't help but acknowledge the rush he felt when combating the monster and even uplifting as it was the first time he did something out of his own freewill rather then following someone elses orders. It finally clicked to him that the reason he felt unsatisfied in regards to his families work was not because of the deeds but rather the intent and lack of choice in it. He wanted to help but he wanted to do because it was what he wanted to and with the intention of genuinely helping others, not because it was expected of him or to improve his reputation. Against his families wishes he left with Argo to sign up with Vigilant wielding his family weapons in combating paranormal threats and aiding non human species in adjusting to the modern world. During his career he has assisted in many successful missions in regards to events such as the arrest of Fafnir, the delegation between elf settlement in Ho Chi Minh, the awakening of Cthulhu, the capture of Behemoth, and assistance during the Night of 1000 Demons. His versatility with the ancient weaponry and calculating mind made him a prime candidate to become the next director of the Asian branch. Though after this is when he began taking some major hits as around this time Argo died, he received word that his younger sister was recently killed in accident, and his many raids against the Cult of the Forgotten has ended in failure. Despite his rather promising career and skills, his recent failures did not do him any favors with UN committee board and Round Table, with many calling for potential expulsion from his position.

Accomplishments & Achievements

• Became a head director at 32, making him one of the youngest to obtain the position.
• Assisted in the capture of the criminal Fafnir and the subjagation of the nature spirit Behemoth.
• Prevented the rise and birth of the Tulpa spirit Cthulu along side watcher agent Carter, Argo, Yu Meng, and Director Mystic himself.
• Most notably known across the organization for providing aid to many families of victims of paranormal attacks and even reconstruction work for damages caused during these encounters.
• Led a successful defense against the Daemons the breached the mortal plane during the Night of 1000 Demons.

Failures & Embarrassments

• Noted how he started many raids against the Cult throughout the Asian conitinent that ended in failure, as they never were able to capture any of their higher brass.

Supposedly he's the descendant of the hero Arjuna, with this being how his family have access to so many Astra weapons. Though we do not know if this has been confirmed.
