Temple of the Red Goddess
The Red Goddess is rarely worshipped in Stygia, only in the eastern lands of Atemu is she still worshipped and remembered as the god of their founder.
Though the temples has been left to disrepair when the mythic king died, as the extreme teachings were considered to harsh by many, but the great edifices of the temple still haunts the older city, for it was carved in the stygian stone, and it does not bend to the will of time. And in that same vein, perhabs by devin retribution, or by the passing ages the people of Stygia have come to embrace the teachings of god long forgotten, for their hardships allow for nothing else.
Mythology & Lore
The goddess favoured primeval man, and she favoured our violence, our craving for more, for safety, for power and the strength to preserve oneself. Thus did she give unto us our need for power and our internal craving for dominance, she gave us the will to reject the weak around us, to cannibalize the strength of others; she allowed us to forsake empathy when needed. We grew strong and powerful, and threatened all other
But the other god's hated her truth, and thus did they banish her from our midst, they let us be torn down and cast away to ugly world. For they did not understand her truth, this world does not allow for weakness, and empathy is a disease, one that allows weakness to foster in our midst, only the strength of each of us can carry our burdens, that she knew well, and thus she will always whisper to us, thus she will save us, from the weakness of others.
Divine Origins
It is said that after the good king Musaf established the Kingdom of Stygia, he was visited by a lady in red and though she hid his face, he instantly recognized her and welcomed her to his court. Though she was rarely seen, she introduced the people to a new and glorious truth; that of the Red Goddess. Though her truth was rejected by many some saw the truth in it's words.
Tenets of Faith
- Give not to others, that which they cannot earn.
- Give unto all the opportunity, and the worthy will claim it.
- Destiny is yours to make; do not allow yourself to be held back.
- Forsake those who are not your equal, chase those who are your superiors.
- Do not allow for a lie to fester, only truth will carry you.
- Do not hold anothers back, show your superiority with integrity
Ethics
The rules that were once established by the Church of the Red Goddess emphasised that compassion to be reserved only for your equals, and that those who were deemed to weak or unwilling to improve were to be cast aside with contempt. It but great emphasis on integrity and truth in ones actions.
Worship
Worship of the Red Goddess was a very public spectacle within the temple itself, the old temple hosting for numerous masses, to behold awe inspiring works of art made from Stygian Stone, here the priests would preach the truth of the Goddess. But it was mostly kept as a private affair, a name to be called upon in times of doubt and weakness, to call for the strenght to carry on and to allow oneself to wither.
