Bar'Kur

Bar'Kur

is an island off the coast Utvana, it's ancient and untamed jungles stretch across the island, it's mountains peaking out of the green sea barring the ancient testaments of the islands by gone past proudly, the old ruins and crumbling structures being washed away by the rain for all to see. The island is dotted in strange ancient ruins, which even the natives have little knowledge.

Ruined Peak

Tallest of the peaks on the island, on it's top sits a crumbling tower, a monument to a bygone age whose purpose has been lost to time. The Crumbling remains found scattered along the mountains ascend has giving it the name of the Ruined Peak. The Locals tell tales of a terrible beast that roams the peak at night.   The Peak is found on the southern parts of the island.

Echo Falls

Greatest of the great water walls found on the island, it's pressure has carved the cliffs side to suit it's needs and paths, creating many of the famous cave formation's that now amplifies the roar of the waters to terrifying heights. Creating a surreal scene of the tunneled cliff sides colored in rich purples and yellows from the fungal growths of the island.   Found near the center of the island.

Hollow Woods

The Hollow woods have long been claimed as cursed, it is small area of on the north eastern island, A quagmire of deep still standing water where all the tree's stand completely hollow, yet seemingly flourish, sculls hung up by unknown assailants hang from the branches, warning trespassers of their fate.. Here the jungle seems unnaturally quiet, no sound of buzzing insects or signing birds, just complete and utter silence, disturbed only by who ever travels there. Many story goes from local explorers, that they no why so few who go there ever return, they claim that in the night they saw black eyes, lit only by the fire they lit, watching them, from all directions, they claim that they small lithe shapes in the shadows, moving with such grace, and silence that it could have been a illusion. Ultimately no one who strays too far in, has ever returned.   The hollow woods are found on the north eastern island.  

Floating islands

One will see small floating in sky over Bar'Kur, too small and high up to do much with them, but they are a curious sight to behold.

Face Caverns

The face caverns refer to some of the caves found around the great falls on the island and the occasional rarer cave found in the dense jungles. They are old subterranean ruins, their purpose ill understood nor explored, but always recognizable for the rare marble used in their constructions. Though the caverns in the mountains are generally referred to as the face caverns the phenonmen itself is rather rare, and appear to be randomly scattered throughout the seemingly natural cave system.

Orcs of the Grim Hand Tribe

Little is known about the Grimhands, they are intensely xenophobic, even to their own kind, inhabiting the western coast of Bar'Kur they have long driven off fishers and settlers with grisly trophies.  

Lizardfolk

Seen as little more than animals by most parts, the lizardfolk have done nothing to establish communication with anyone not of their kind, launching raids against the human settlers and orcs they come into contact with, as such little is known about their presence on the island. Limit cordial contract with them as left information on them scares.  

Asentai Overseas Trading And Lumber

Moliadia is a relatively new settlement on the island, build up from nothing during it's now ten years of venture on the island, sponsored by the Asentai Overseas Trading And Lumber, the town has seen much hardship, and pushback from natives, but has prospered in spite of that, the locals are optimistic they see a bright future here on the island, a chance to escape their former hardships and to succeed here where no one else has, and make it big.

Geography

The Coast of Bar'kur is that of coastal paradise, sandy beaches and not much further in springs a rich and dense jungle. it's jungle floors covered in foliage and leaves, creating a green wall of flora impenetrable to the eyes, leaving one blinded by nature. Further inland is what the islands the rich soil gives way to more rocky terrain, overgrown by harsh fungal life creating small cliffs and walls in dizzying colors of yellow and purple.   Eventually the sound of running water becomes a constant noise, rivers and streams alike flow the rocky cliffs of the island forming many water ways in the dense jungle, before being swallowed by the earth to known places, these water ways have duck strange shapes circular shapes and paths in the rocks and cliffs of the island, giving it's name of the Echo Islands, as these shapes echos carry word and noise alike through their tunnels, further applying the sound of running water to sometimes dizzying and confusing heights.   A curious phenomena on the island is floating islands, something usually associated with placed of old magic, yet no such artifacts have been found by the many explorers that have ventured the jungles in search of it's source, and those who return always return empty handed, finding nothing but dirt.

Fauna & Flora

Flora of exception

Of the more more exceptional flora on the island are the two fungi, both of whom compete for the same living space:

Basmora

Basmora is a rich purple fungal growth that grows on the cliffs-sides and surface minerals off. It Sprouts as small stalks with wide hats from said surfaces in tight clusters, greating small purple patches around the island. Said fungus is incredibly poisonous, if ingested but it's rich purple colors makes a great dye.

Dosmora

A deep golden fungus that grows on the cliffs-sides and surface minerals off, but usually around sources of water. It grows like a web on surfaces, forming an almost spider like pattern of what looks like a golden jelly. The fungus is edible with little in the means of preparation, though they are notoriously bland.

Eel hound

Referred to as Eel hounds by the locals, though they are crocodi in nature. These large reptiles live together in packs of up to 5, preferring to ambush and overwhelm their targets, dragging them down into the waters. These creatures are extremely aggressive and roam up and down the rivers in search of prey, making travel via the water ways a precarious situation.  

Takura

Although rarely spotted, within the deep jungles the locals and some explorers claim to have seen great reptiles that stood 10 to 15 feet tall, walking on two legs and dashing on all four appearing from the many water ways. Though not specimen has been collected yet. The case is not unlikely as similiar creatures are found on many islands in the Dozango area. The locals claim that the eggs go for ludicrious prising in the creater cities, inspiring many ventures to find them.  

Baskura

A sort of local legend/boogy man, the locals tell tales that in some of the old ruins on the island strange creatures can be found, deformed and twisted humans who stalk the old ruins hunting an killing everything they find.

Natural Resources

The island is rich with good timber, and to the daring it's mountainsides and riverbeds are rich with bronze and silver.
