List of monarchs

House Thendis 524-670

House Thendis is the first royal house of Forbin following the fall of Tekkaron's tyranny. Established by Jalus I, the Thendis dynasty brought stability and a sense of continuity to a kingdom still reeling from the dark times.   The Thendis kings were known for their resilience, holding the kingdom together through a mix of strong leadership and strategic alliances. However, their reign coincided with the rise of the Thalissian Empire, which became a formidable power in the region. The Thendis rulers had to carefully navigate Forbin's relationship with Thalis, at times forming uneasy alliances and at others standing firm against imperial encroachments.   Despite these challenges, the Thendis kings managed to preserve Forbin’s sovereignty, but the constant strain of dealing with both internal strife and the external threat of Thalis eventually weakened their hold on power. The dynasty came to an end after the death of Jalus III in battle, leaving the throne vulnerable.

House Ammaris 670-813

House Ammaris rose to power after the fall of House Thendis, with Lassad taking the throne as Jalus III's brother-in-law. The Ammaris dynasty is characterized by a period of consolidation and growth, as Forbin sought to expand its influence and fortify its borders. During their reign, Forbin was frequently in conflict with the Thalissian Empire, which sought to dominate the archipelago.   The Ammaris kings, particularly Harmand and Purland, were known for their military campaigns to repel Thalissian incursions and for forging alliances with other states to counter the empire's power. However, the constant pressure from Thalis drained Forbin’s resources and created internal divisions that weakened the house.   By the time Finnas, the last of the Ammaris line, died without a clear heir, Forbin was left vulnerable, and the throne passed to House Petarrin.

House Petarrin 813-985

House Petarrin came to power in the wake of House Ammaris's decline, with Asandrin I ascending to the throne.   The early years of the Petarrin dynasty were marked by continued tension with the Thalissian Empire, which was at its zenith during this period. Asandrin I and Hena were effective rulers who managed to maintain Forbin’s independence through a combination of diplomacy and military strength. However, as the Thalissian Empire began to decline in the late 9th century, Forbin found new opportunities to expand its influence.   The later Petarrin rulers, particularly Asandrin II and III, capitalized on the empire's weakening grip, slowly reasserting Forbin's power in the region. Despite these successes, internal strife and the lack of a clear successor following Asandrin III’s death in 985 left Forbin without a king, and the Lords Guardian struggled to maintain a fragile peace during the ensuing interregnum.     Asandrin III died without a named heir, and no successor could be agreed. Forbin was left without a king, and the Lords Guardian maintained a fragile and fractious rule across the regions of the land.

Restoration of the monarchy 2264-present

After nearly 1,300 years without a central monarchy, Forbin's prophesied Golden King, Trybon Fane, emerged to reunite the realm in its time of greatest need. The restoration marked a new chapter in Forbin's history, with Trybon Fane leading the kingdom to victory against Yarivona and the realm of Teros.   The new monarchy looked to the past, learning from both the triumphs and mistakes of its predecessors, including the complex legacy of Forbin’s relations with the Thalissian Empire. Under the Golden King, Forbin sought to rebuild its strength and reassert its influence across the archipelago, this time with a focus on unity and resilience, determined to avoid the pitfalls that had previously left the kingdom vulnerable to external powers.
