Hagleaf is a large,
fern-like plant known for its pain-relieving properties. It thrives in the cooler, wetter regions of the
Seynan Islands, where it grows in abundance during the rainy seasons.
The leaves of Hagleaf are prized for their
medicinal uses, especially in treating wounds and inflammation.
Form and Appearance
Hagleaf is a tall plant with broad, deep-green fronds that can grow up to four feet in length. The fronds are thick and fleshy, with a soft, velvety texture on the underside. When fully grown, the plant forms a wide, bushy shape, with its fronds spreading outwards to create a dense cover. The edges of the fronds are slightly serrated, giving the plant a distinct, rugged appearance.
Habitat
Hagleaf prefers cool, damp environments and is most commonly found in the lowlands and forested areas of the Seynan Islands. It thrives in the fertile soils of the islands’ valleys, where the rains are frequent and the ground remains moist for much of the year.
The plant is most abundant during the rainy seasons from Huntscall to Frenal.
Geographic Distribution
Hagleaf is native to the Seynan Islands, particularly on
Seyn Yona and
Seynin Fant, where it covers large areas of the forest floor. It is also occasionally found in shaded river valleys in
Forbin and
Remon, but it is far less common outside the Seynan Islands.
Uses
Hagleaf is highly valued for its medicinal properties. The large leaves can be crushed and used to make a soothing poultice that relieves pain and reduces swelling. This poultice is often applied to bruises, sprains, and other injuries to help speed recovery. It is also used to calm the abdominal pain and nausea of
Orbont Sickness and to ease the discomfort associated with
Crimsonstain.
In some regions, the leaves are also steeped in hot water to create a pain-relieving tea, which is used to treat headaches and body aches. The plant is an essential part of the local herbal medicine in the Seynan Islands.
