Castle Birishad

Castle Birishad rises proudly in the southern Redpeaks, its stone walls echoing the stern and unyielding landscape that surrounds it. Originally a Terosian stronghold, it has become a key military base for the occupying Peacekeeper forces of Forbin since the War of Salvation. Its position near Dassar Bridge gives it strategic oversight of the region, allowing the Peacekeepers to monitor movement through the valleys and exert control over nearby communities.   The castle is a formidable structure, with a central keep surrounded by stout walls and four guard towers positioned at each corner. The courtyard is wide and open, designed for military exercises, and is often filled with the sounds of clashing weapons and barked commands as the garrison trains and patrols. While the architecture of Castle Birishad reflects its Terosian origins, the blue banners of Forbin now hang from the battlements, a clear reminder of the occupying force’s authority.   Commander Yorshan, a young Peacekeeper recently promoted to command Castle Birishad, struggles to maintain order within its walls. A man of good intentions and a sense of duty, he finds himself in a difficult position. His idealism is often at odds with the more seasoned veterans under his command, many of whom resent taking orders from someone they consider inexperienced. Tensions are further heightened by the attitudes of the local Terossian population, who view the Peacekeepers with distrust and resentment. Commander Yorshan has done his best to establish a fair rule and build rapport with the people, but his efforts are continually undermined by the actions of more corrupt Peacekeepers in other outposts, whose greed and cruelty taint the reputation of Forbin’s forces across Teros.

In the lower levels of the keep, armories and storerooms house enough supplies and weapons to sustain the garrison through a prolonged siege. These underground areas also serve as temporary holding cells for prisoners captured during skirmishes in the Redpeaks. Despite his best efforts to be a fair commander, the young officer is well aware that the peace he is tasked with keeping is a fragile thing, strained by old rivalries and bitterness.   Castle Birishad remains a symbol of Forbin’s strength and presence in Teros, but the cracks in its unity are becoming more apparent.
