Faith of Aemar the All-Father

The Faith of Aemar is the dominant religion of the Heartland Kingdoms and the Southern Kingdom of Anthiok. Worshiping the Anverai God Caemar by the name he went by in the ancient texts. The Faith of Aemar is the dominant religion of the Heartland Realms. Once beginning as a fringe movement. Then a militant cult. The Faith of Aemar has endured the hypocrisy of Ellician Emperors, to survive and be reformed under Vaeldemar Palimon. Though more recent years have held episodes of bureaucratic complacency and hierarchical corruption. The Faith endures and gives strength to many.

Structure

The Faith is led by the Amon. The Highest authority of the Aemaristian Priesthood. Beneath the Amon are the two-hundred Aectors or Aectory. Who retain a deep study of the written canon of the Faith. Beneath the Aectory is the many Abbots who preside over the Abbeys of the Devoted where Priests are trained and Affirmed in the Faith. Similar to the Abbots are the Monaster of the Monestaries of Isolation who are equal in rank to each other in the Monestaries and pray to Aemar in complete isolation from the world. And beneath them both are the common Priests who may be found anywhere that Men and Women pray to Aemar.

Public Agenda

The Faith seeks what any religion does. To spread itself to the hearts of all Mankind. To this end however. The Faithful has taken on a role in the politics of the Heartland Kingdoms. And has been the cause of many conflicts in past history.

Assets

The Faiths Temple congregations donate various sums of coinage where ever the faith may be. Giving the Faith an income to conduct many noble works. Or zealous ones.

History

The Faith was established in the wake of the Fall of Ellicia. The cataclysmic and heart shaking event that heralded the end of the Ellician Empire. And the beginning of the Fourth Aeon. What is also refered to as The Aeon After Ellicia. (A.E.) Founded on the canon that Humanity had squandered beyond recompense, its second chance. After having failed the All-Father in Artea, the First Homeland of Mankind in the West, which is now gone beneath the Calling Sea. And that now Man must labor to turn the All-Fathers gaze back to his children. Even though they had broken his heart with Murder, Rape, Greed, Theft, and over indulgence of Magic. As well as the worship of his many aspects and guises as separate gods. Rather than acknowledge him by his true name, Aemar. The Faith assures salvation from damnation, possession, and misery, if Men and Woman alike will live virtuous lives.   For a long period of time. The Clergy of the Faith had become its tyrants. Demanding absolute devotion from all who even walked past a temple. Infidelity was punished with castration. Murder was punished with the severing of the murderers hands. And theft was punished with the severing of ones legs. The Clergy were as beyond control as their predecessors were in the Faiths time as a fringe cult. The successor Kingdoms of The Heartland decimated the Temples. Demanding a cessation of zealous vigilantism. It would be another decade before the change was implemented.

Sometime after. Roymar Ardent began the Order of Paladins. Granting the Clergy a militant arm. But in their new standing in the Heartland, the Clergy held the fates of thousands in their hands. But the two would have a grandiose falling out over the essential nobility of the Temples cause with the people. The Paladins believed in selfless service to the people in the name of Aemar. But the Temple did not believe that all had deserved such service. The Clergy condemned any that did not attend the Devotants Mass, believing them that claimed a devotion to Aemar but did not attend the required rituals and ceremonies as pretend believers. And worth less than the true believers.

The Ardentine Order became The Renunciate Order of Saint Ardent. Breaking with the Temple and operating independent of the Temple Canon. For this, the Paladins were labeled as blasphemers by the Clergy. But their selfless deeds quickly thwarted any effect this attack from the Temple would have. A quarrel occurred among the Clergy. And the Clergymen that wouldn't budge were disavowed and forsaken from the Temple. Or were quietly slain by hired criminals. Then began a decades long reform of the Temple Doctrines, Canon, and Codes of Conduct among the Clergy. And after a four year period of these reforms being implemented, a call for reconciliation was made to the Paladins Orders that had formed out of the Splitting of the Ardentine Order. But thus far, only two orders have rejoined the Temple.

Though the Faith has come from unfortunate and regrettable origins. The Faith holds true for every believer from among the Heartland Men and in recent days, the Ashland Men. The Faith also has reached out to The Daggerbreak Isles and begins to preach to the open hearts of the Merchants and Tradesmen of The Shattered Sea Trade and Banking Company. As well as their employees.

"All-Fathers favor be with you."
