The Scarred One
Survivors who cling to life when all else is lost may find themselves adrift in a world that now feels alien to them. Whether it is a sharp traumatic break from reality or a slow drifting realization that to breath is all that matters, those who reach that point often find themselves dreaming in a deep Astral ocean. The dreaming currents are dark and vast, deep sea vent clouds oscillating into pale kelp wrapped around ghostly remains of the dead. The deep chill of oblivion lurks in that great void, kept at bay by an enormous shadowy beast. The Scarred One towers like a mountain over these visitors, its pale flesh a mass of scars and callouses. It is dragon, whale, fish, and serpent, with a rough fleshy hide protruding countless fingerlike tentacles. Its countless finds are cradles of tender life, pale reeflings kept warm and safe from the gnawing icy void.
This is the Scarred One, the survival instrinct given monstrous shape. It is patron of those who have fallen out of society and would exist purely for existence's sake, as well as the paranoid and the desperate. It moves its warlocks to seek survival, to protect it (however it sees necessary), and to remind the world of the terror against death that all possess.
To have a pact with the Scarred One can mean many things. Those rescued by the Leviathan are often tasked to do the Scarred One's biddings - arcane tasks meant to help protect the great one from shadowy threats. Others are the Leviathan's willing emissaries, who preach the terrors of death to inspire the living to fight more vigorously against death. Others still simply resonate deeply with the Leviathan, carrying the power as an extention of the beast's own paranoid and desperate mind. The Scarred One cherishes all of their pact warlocks - though often in a harsh and alien way.
The Scarred One rules waters of the South-central seas, from Ekraht to Ibith to Sonev. It can psychically reach mortals who resonate with its values around the world, though.
