Solrolden Wastes

The Solrolden Wastes are the eastern riverlands of the Rolden River, corrupted by Ederstone radiation. Monsters and mutants linger here, and the land is too wild and dangerous to be governed by any state. Communities do survive here anyways - fortified villages, nomads, merchants, and monster hunters.

Geography

The Solrolden Wastes are 162 miles by 130 miles. Its Southern border is defined by a small mountain range, beyond which is the desertified Rukohst Wastes. The Northern and Eastern borders are defined by the militarized, mountain-bolstered border of the Varasan Mountains Kingdoms. The Western border is defined by the outposts and fortifications of the Empire of Eketen  The core Ederstone meteor that is the center of the region's radiation lies in the Twisted Grove, a hateful little forest full of just the worst critters. The actual meteor seems to be submerged in a grove that is a mixture of water, stone, glass, and vegetation.    The riverlands beyond the grove itself is known as True Solrolden, and is lush and seemingly normal riverland forest. The river is full of watchful eyes and dreadful teeth, though, and the woods are not as habitable as they seem.    The grasslands beyond these woods are known as Kemderfel. The worst things here are the "centaurs" made of Sudraco with something roughly descended from a Half Prism torso on top.    The Whispering Plains to the East are flat grasslands with constant whisper-like sounds and breezes. The land is not exactly kind to visitors, but it is the most inhabited by native communities.    The Maze of Deversain is the furthest East. It is a curiously dangerous area for a region so distant from its Ederstone, and few people can explain why. Mushrooms and fungi grow everywhere and the air seems weirdly dusty, but they are not predatory fungi. Monsters exist here, but not in wild abundance. And yet, the land is cursed. All who enter find the land warp around them, guiding them through what seems like an impossible maze. Those who survive report that the longer one lingers in the Maze, the more reality begins to unravel: the dead have been seen rising from their graves, spirits and demons have manifested, and more.
