Junker (Yun-kar)
Junkers are urban nobles in Stildane, most common in kingdoms in the orbit of the Kingdom of Hain. Junkers rule over towns and cities, and report to some kind of overlord (such as a King or upper nobleman).
Junkers are generally considered lower-intermediary nobles, and in Hainish feudalism are often stereotyped as crass and of lesser honor. Junker positions are more likely to be non-hereditary, and many Junkers are selected either from local nobility or from elsewhere by their overlords. Junkers also often have non-absolute power over their subjects, and have to negotiate with local Burghers, guilds, and merchants; while no noble truly rules by edict alone, the Junker can't even pretend to be a benevolent patriarch of their subjects.
Every Junker position is different - some are inherited, others are not; some are rich, others are poor.
