Barza Devadov
Barza is one of the two mothers of Arzet Devadov. Also called Barza Inksworn or Barza Kosharina (Daughter of Kosha).
Barza is doting, friendly, and cautious. She has always been the peacemaker in Arzet's house, and something of the unofficial breadwinner. Barza once worked as Rekalaa's apprentice before she fled to town to marry Itko. Ever since then, she has worked as the town's scribe and is an invaluable asset to the town elders. In her success, she has become somewhat risk-averse, and she desperately wants the family to just stick together and keep their heads down.
Barza has a long line of predecessors from Adov and grew up here working with the priest, merchants, and town council as scribe and scrivener. She is very close to Alba Devadov, her daughter who she trained as her primary apprentice.
Barza has a sometimes-tense relationship with Itko Devadov, her wife. Itko is prone to risk-taking, wandering, and rocking the boat at times - often without consulting Barza. Barza similarly has done much of the work bankrolling and enabling Itko's dabbling in monster herding and ranching with her more steady and lucrative job with the village council. Barza is also more politically and socially respected than her wife; Itko does what she can thanks to Barza's support. When this isn't dangerous, Barza is generally quite supportive of her wife, whom she loves. But the two find more and more reasons to fight now that the world is falling apart.
