Androlg

Keepers of the Old Lore

The Androlg tribal federation was a quasi-kingdom in very early Stildane. The Androlgs were one of the rare Stildanian groups to have memories and social structures preserved from before the Divine Scouring of Stildane. They emerged as a "bastion of civilization", with a strict social hierarchy and an obsession with curating a secluded "pure" elite class untouched by visible signs of Ederstone radiation. The Androlgs retained many of the old iron-age technologies and bodies of knowledge that were otherwise lost - metallurgical techniques, architecture, and other areas of skill and knowledge that were hard to retain in the nightmarish chaos wastes.   The Androlg built unsustainably large cities and struggled with political cohesion; it had a very tumultuous history over the 350 years of its existence. The legends of Androlg are far grander than the historical reality. Androlg is remembered as a thing of fables and legends, a shining kingdom representing both the glory and ruin in clinging to the past.   The Androlg kingdom and federation collapsed after it wildly over-extended itself from numerous conquests and vainglorous projects. Attempts to centralize the kingdom and turn the federation into an empire provoked a terrible civil war, which devastated the empire. The irradiated and non-Dryad classes rose up against the brutal theocratic species-based caste system and the draconian laws that reinforced it. The kingdom lost much of its land and people during these wars, but clung to its core territory and began to recover in the late 100s and early 200s. The Cursed Storms came at a terrible time for both the Androlg and their former subjects - vast numbers died on all sides. The last vestiges of the Androlg order collapsed by 259, fifty years into the storms. What remained of Androlg's knowledge and rituals were absorbed and preserved in the new city of Geinsteinn thanks to the prudence and planning of the great hero Ustav.   Ruins of ancient Androlg are very rare and are usually mistaken for those of the Empire of Andrig (which re-colonized many old Androlg sites after the end of the Cursed Storms). Only fantastical fables and learned loremasters even know about Androlg in the modern day.   This is a historic stub article.
