Henry Bouer was a backstory character. He was the Director of Prospero until his death under suspicious circumstances on March 19th 1985.

Biography

Background

Little is known about Henry Bouer's past. All that is known is that he was the very first Director of Prospero, serving since the organisation was founded on November 2nd 1954, all the way until his death in 1985. He was also known to have a very formal and "by the books" style of leadership, demanding that all agents working for the organisation held themselves to the "highest possible ethical standard".

Death

On March 15th 1985, Bouer was found dead in his office. An autopsy of his body revealed that he had died of a heart attack. He was then buried by his family, and memorial plaques were placed around Prospero Headquarters to commemorate him and his leadership.

Controversy Surrounding Death

Bouer's death was the cause of some controversy, particularly amongst medical staff and experts, over the cause of his death. Though his heart attack seemed completely genuine at first glance, it was notable that Bouer was not off the mean age for an attack, nor did he have any underlying health conditions that would allow for an attack to occur to early. Though suspicious of foul play were afoot, evidence was scarce, and his death was ultimately ruled to be of natural causes.
Secretly, it was The Custodian who had arranged for his death, having poisoned him with a substance that resulted in a heart attack. The method of assassination would remove Bouer from the picture and allow The Custodian to rise to power as Director, all whilst escaping any accusations of foul play.
