The Death of Henry Bouer is a backstory event. It saw the death of Prospero's Director Henry Bouer and the subsequent rise to power of The Custodian.

Background

When Prospero was founded, Bouer was chosen to be it's Director due to his impeccable record. He served as Director continually since it's founding. After learning of Prospero, The Custodian did extensive research into the organisation, and concluded that the kind of objects the organisation dealt with might be able to help his terminally ill daughter, Kylie Price. As such, he set his eyes upon becoming Director.

Events

In 1985, The Custodian launched his scheme to become Director. He arranged for Henry Bouer's death, and the murder was orchestrated in such a way that Bouer's cause of death was formally recorded as a heart attack.

Aftermath

With Bouer out of the way, Prospero needed a new Director. The Custodian's research into the organisation allowed him to 'fine-tune' his record to make him the perfect candidate for the role, despite having no proper dealings with the anomalous. He was selected to become the new Director, and promptly set about changing the organisation's direction. Additionally, Henry Bouer's death was the cause of some controversy, particularly amongst medical staff who performed his postmortem. His heart attack seemed unusual due to it's sudden occurrence; and his not being of the mean age for such as attack, nor having any of the underlying conditions that could cause an attack so early. Allegations of foul play were made, however with no concrete evidence - as well as pressure from The Custodian - no formal investigations were launched, and a heart attack was recorded as the cause of death.
