High Tower Inn

Conveniently located near the Selintan River, this inviting inn is distinguished by its tall tower, which is pointed at the top like the hat of an eccentric wizard. The clientele is notably wealthy, but the inn itself isn’t at all ostentatious.

Located in the Garden Quarter, the High Tower Inn is a favored haunt of Greyhawk’s elite, particularly its most powerful wizards. Distinguished by its tall, pointed tower, which resembles the hat of an old and eccentric mage, the inn is known for its unpretentious charm and welcoming atmosphere. While less expensive than its highbrow neighbors, it boasts an air of quiet sophistication, making it a favored gathering place for those seeking fine company, good conversation, and a touch of mystery.

The Proprietor – Erlynn Goodfellow

The High Tower Inn is owned and operated by Erlynn Goodfellow (Lawful Good), a soft-spoken, middle-aged, pot-bellied mage with gray hair, bright-blue eyes, and platinum-rimmed spectacles. Once an aspiring adventurer, Erlynn reached the 4th level of magical mastery before realizing she had little taste for danger and preferred the comforts of a more sedentary life.

Few know of Erlynn’s magical abilities, as she rarely casts spells in public. Only her closest friends and the occasional observant guest are aware of her talents.

A Gathering Place for the Arcane Elite

The High Tower Inn is the favored meeting place of some of Greyhawk’s most powerful wizards, including Otto and Jallarzi, as well as, on occasion, members of the Circle of Eight , such as Tenser and Nystul. These legendary figures often disguise themselves when in public, but those with a keen eye may recognize them.

Accommodations and Gaming

  • The High Tower offers a half-dozen plush, reasonably priced sleeping chambers, each with maid service and private washing facilities. These rooms are highly sought after, but only Erlynn’s most respected customers and closest friends are granted access.
  • The tower itself contains three private chambers, available to regular patrons seeking privacy for discussion or relaxation.
  • While the inn does not officially host gambling, quiet games of chance are common. Honor is taken seriously, and letters of debt are often accepted in place of immediate payment. However, only those with a recommendation from a regular patron may join in. Cheating or failing to pay one’s debts will ruin a person’s reputation throughout the Free City.

For those seeking a comfortable stay, lively conversation, and the company of Greyhawk’s most esteemed arcanists, the High Tower Inn is the place to be.
