Otto’s House
This quaint dwelling, nestled among the grander estates of the city, appears almost cottage-like in contrast to its surroundings.
Most of the time, it is inhabited only by a white-haired groundskeeper and his diligent wife.
Roughly a quarter of the time, the house becomes home to Otto himself, a renowned wizard of the Circle of Eight . When in Greyhawk for 1d4 weeks at a time, he enjoys the comfortably appointed residence, with the housekeeper’s splendid cooking ensuring he is always well-fed. Despite his influence, Otto keeps little of value at this location.
Otto
A towering presence at 5'10" and 332 lbs., Otto is known for his ebullient personality and lavish tastes. His long, curly brown hair and green-hazel eyes are often overshadowed by his rich purple and gold robes, adorned with gem-set rings.
A renowned gourmet, Otto travels the world under the guise of a luxury merchant, specializing in rare foodstuffs. For over a decade, he has been compiling a book on exquisite cuisine, seeking out new and exotic dishes. His Cornucopia of Blissful Satiation, a magical artifact, grants him three gourmet meals per day, though it can only reproduce a dish once per year—hence his endless culinary adventures.
Beyond his love for food, Otto is a devoted patron of the arts, especially music. His unique approach to magic ties directly to musical structures, and his spells often incorporate melodic components. Otto’s bizarre singing fireballs and harmonic magic missiles are infamous, and tales abound of an ice storm that yodeled as it pelted an unfortunate Frost Barbarian.
A former acolyte of Boccob turned wizard, Otto’s rapid advancement in magic is rumored to be divinely influenced—perhaps by Boccob himself, or even the mad god Zagig. Now, he is a valued informant on the Great Kingdom, Bone March, and Ratik, frequently assisting druids and rangers in the Adri Forest. Though officially neutral, his actions often lean toward the side of Good.
Otto is a frequent visitor to Greyhawk, where he maintains a townhouse. He comes to see Tenser, trade, and indulge in cultural events, particularly the opera. For years, he has been deeply infatuated with Aestrella Shanfarel, showering her with gifts, flowers, and generous donations to the Grand Theatre and Opera House. Though he has dined with her twice, he remains unaware of her true nature.
Otto’s love of fine dining often leads him to The Golden Phoenix, where he eagerly exchanges culinary knowledge with the city's best chefs. On his last visit, he discovered a kraken steak stuffed with rare star-eel, poached in Celene nectarwine, and served with a mousse of moonberry and lemon—a dish he now considers one of his finest culinary experiences.
