Mainland Aignaoithe
While there is currently only one major aignaoi people group, homeland, and culture, this was not always the case. Prior to the years leading up to the Colonial Era, the aignaoithe were spread across Tír n'Oighear's icy coastline. According to records in the Library of Stone, these dragons tended to have a very different culture than the tight-knit community of Inis Baile Mor.
History
Challenges
Mainland Aignaoithe lived on the tundras and glaciers of Tír n'Oighear. These lands are farther north than even Inis Baile Mor, and the weather is generally harsher. Many Mainland Aignaoithe were said to spend the winters entirely in caves, as all the aignaoithe supposedly did during the War of the Night. Living in the same general stomping ground of the Great White Bear, Mainland Aignaoithe dealt with these dangerous creatures more often than their islander counterparts. They also often lived closer to the naered and with fewer protections (such as shapeshifter warriors).Relationship with Islanders and the Council
Like all aignaoithe, Mainland Aignaoithe were subject to the Council of Elders. However, they tended to resent their rule, viewing the islander majority as coddled and having an easy life. They especially disliked the requirement that all shapeshifters go to Inis Baile Mor to train, viewing the Council as stealing their children--and greatest assets against the naered. Some mainlander shapeshifters refused to go to Inis Baile Mor to train, though they were ultimately forced.Legacy
Leading up to the Colonization, the naered attacked the aignaoithe aggressively, reducing their numbers significantly. The aignaoithe who lived on the mainland were the first to be attacked. Some chose to flee to Inis Baile Mor, where they remained, but many fought tooth and claw for their homeland, taking many naered with them, but ultimately losing. The ethnicity is currently considered extinct. However, my shapeshifter friend Fiachra would like to note that many fishing families identify themselves as descendants of these aignaoithe and tend to posess the more individualistic traits, though they're far more willing to give up their shapeshifter children than their ancestors.Written by Cordelia Colbreak Evenbrook

Tended to have blue or white scales, unlike the variety of colors found on Inis Baile Mor.
Seems like they've had to overcome a lot to live where they live.
